Coin-op games: Do you own one?

I never would have guessed this many people had games in their house. I bet there's nothing like praticing at home then playing for hours on a single quarter someplace. :)

Not Too Shabby For A Summer
I have Space Invaders, and Ms. PacMan. its not all complete without Loopy Landscapes, CF, and RT.
i personally don't own one, but my brother has two. Burger Time(i think thats the names)with the chefs and burgers with things chaseing him. All time classic though. Also Astroids another all time classic. He sayd the Pacman is next.

My other brother is a manger for Gameworks in Indianapolis. Its an arcade. He gets paid to play video games all day long. My kind of job.

I would love to own a table version of either Pacman or Mrs. Pacman. That would be sweet!

I have a Pinball machine from, I'd say the 1950's. It is all wood, thats what I love about it. Oh, and it is all mechanical. You have to push in a rod to get the ball back into the launch chamber. 5 cents per play. I also got 2 shuffle board, bowling games. I have no idea how old they are, but they are old. They are 10 cents per play.

I have an air hockey table and a bumper pool table, but they are not coin opp.

Namco is currently making a combination Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga machine. The list prices are $2,500 for the stand-up and about $2,900 for the cocktail (table) version. I saw the stand-up at IAAPA, and spent a lot of time playing it. Well worth the price to get such a machine new, if you ask me.

I wish I owned a pinball machine?Uhhh
Hmmm, I'm not sure which pinball machine I'd want. Let me think back to my college days. Pinbot, Cyclone, Taxi, and Whirlwind (I think that was the name) all come to mind immediately. Addam's Family would be cool, too ("Gomez! Tish...")

My ultimate arcade machine would be a working Tempest, but keeping those color vector screens running can be next to impossible...

Well, during high school I put so much of my lunch money into the "Diner" and "Hook" pinball machines. And I guess I shouldn't even mention "Street Fighter", "Karate Champ", and "Smash TV". But one day, when my bank account grows up and I get a house, I MUST have a pool table and pinball machine!

The Addams Family, in your house, man? That's crazy. My girl would be lonely if pinball were here. Twilight Zone, Popeye, Bride of PinBot, Star Wars, Twilight Zone, High Speed, High Speed the Getaway, Theatre of Illusions, Indiana Jones, Funhouse (the best Williams I ever kicked), and the Twilight Zone, if anyone messes up and has any of these in thier houses and lets me find out about it, you're going to have a new roomate:).

Anyways, I haven't been a good person and I never look for pinball when I'm at the park. Although those baseball machines bring back memories, I think we still have a few on the boardwalk at Myrtle Beach, if they are what your dad's got. Are they kind of hard to get used to playing? If they are, I love those things.......
anyone know how much a 9 or ten year old game would cost. I am thinking something like twilight zone or the ever popular star wars and if so how much electricity they use
Star Wars is a very expensive game for it also commands collector value, I'm sure even some parts for it would be on the more expensive side. Ther is a leaser of games where I used to live that had three broken units but they wouldn't even joke about selling any of it. I only know that because I am a Star Wars geek. Other than that, you get Twilight Zone, I'm gonna take it from you:).......
You're going to run in the 2000-2500 dollar range for a refurb Twilight Zone. One, for the nostalgia, two, for it being a 'superpin' (widebody Williams/Bally machine).

http://www.homegameroom.com/catalog/usedpins.htm

will give you a ballpark figure for certain machines. Usually look into local refurb places rather than EBay, they'll gouge you there and you cannot look at the unit to see how well kempt it was. Always play the machine you intend to buy, that's the best gauge available.

And if you're serious about buying a pin, always buy something you loved playing, not something you think looks cool. More often than not, you'll be disappointed if you go with the 'cool' unit.

(I think I'm going to buy a 'The Shadow' machine next.)

If you want star wars games or any good pinball games check out ebays coin-op section it has a few star wars games listed and a ton of pinballs. Remember though when you buy of off ebay that the dealers are usally out of your area and you have to pay for shipping, it is not very cheap to have one shipped, I learned my lesson with my laser ghost game it weighs around 400 pounds, it cost me $300 shipping.(game has to chairs to sit in and shoot and 1 area to stand so its huge). Its still your best bet to find your old favorites cheap on ebay just dont forget the shipping before bidding. Ive bought 6 games total off ebay and never had a problem with any of them.

My Jurassic Park machine was about $2,000, and I know it can be had for less. However, the shop that I bought it from did everything I don't have the time or desire to do. They replaced all of the rubber parts and flippers, solenoids, lamps, power supply and speakers. That's about 16 hours of labor and a lot of parts. As someone said above, having a local shop rehab the machine is well worth it.

All the machines I buy are refurbed before shipping, don't ever buy one that is not refurbed unless you know what your doing. Plus most of the major pinball and video game shops across the country put auctions on ebay now, just follow most links listed to there shops.

Are we talking Star Wars pinball or video here? The video ones are expensive/hard to find because Atari's vector monitors are hard to find in working condition... fixing a broken Tempest and Asteroids and Star Wars is a pain.
Pinball, and now the vid...
