Coasting in the Snow (SFGAm Nov 1)

The Chicago weather forecast for this Friday calls for snow flurries and a high of 36 and lows in the mid 20's.

Could this be SFGAm's first "snow-coasting" experience? Also, it will be interesting to see how the coasters run in such cold weather. Personally, I think it would be a blast to have all that cold air in your face.

Theoretically, could the park make any money if it operated weekends in March, April, and November?

The only reason the park isnt open in April is because they hold alot of private outings during this month.

Yeah, its supposed to be pretty freakin cold this Friday. Just bundle up and have a good time. :)

I am looking forward to Saturday at SFGAm, myself. (That is if my wife doesn't have the baby this week) I will be seeing SW:AOTC at the IMAX in Lincolnshire then head to the park for a few butt-numbingly cold laps on AE, RB and Viper...with my pager on just in case...

Are you people nuts!? The temperature will be around freezing, at those heights you'll definetly be getting some wind off the lake, and you want to shoot down steel tubes (that are probably cantracting to sizes the manufacturers never intended them to run at) at high speeds?

Man, sounds like good, old-fashioned, Chicago-winter style fun!

(SF) Great American, who only survives the winter becasue activities such as tobagganing and sledding somewhat mimic the feel of a roller coaster.

Chitown,

My wife came up with the idea of me seeing AOTC on the IMAX because she knew she couldn't sit for that long and then when she heard that GAm was going to be open, and I'd be oh-so-close...she said I could go there too - as long as I had my pager.

I just hope she can drive to the hospital - not a short drive as her doctor is 40 minutes away (long story). The good news is, with me at GAm/Lincolnshire, I'd be there when she arrived...

After an incredible night ride on Deja Vu this past saturday, I'm hoping we get decent weather... *crosses fingers* :)

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

I know many coaster nuts (including myself) that would brave the elements. To me it adds more personality to the ride, and though they may not run the fastest in cold, it certainly is fun to see everyone in ski goggles and snowmobile suits! I'd be at SFGAm this weekend if it weren't for one last chance to ride KI's Vortex and my beloved Flyers. I only hope that Great America isn't as restrictive as KI about running their Arrows in cold weather. I just survived the PO!NT sunday, so I am ready for anything!
