Coasters in Vegas

I'm pretty new to the site but I've been following the news for a long time. In late July I am going to Vegas and will probably beg to go on a few coasters while I'm there. Which ones are worth a trip and which should I stay clear of?

Does this thing go faaaaaast!

I have never been there personally, but I would if I went I would hit Speed, Manhatten Express, High Roller, and Desperado. Manhatten just for the Heartline Dive, it looks sweet.

The only one worth riding is Desperado( it's an hour outside of Vegas at Buffalo Bill's Casino)..Speed really has NO SPEED..it's your typical LIM coaster, and I won't comment on Manhattan Express...or Canyon Blaster...

Canyon Blaster: looks like a dud

Speed: might have good LIM acceleration but not too thrilled about that one

Manhattan Express: could be fun but those shoulder harnesses don't look too comforting.

High Roller: I've only been on a few coasters but I know crap when I see it.

you're kidding right? 70 mph no speed? Manhattan Express is good... I rode it and don't see what's so bad about it... If you only get to go on one ride then go on the Big Shot... best ride there definitely and the view is awesome.

um, canyon blaster is better than Manhatten, and Manhatten is still really good. DON'T MISS ANY OF THEM.

~IMO, Vortex at PGA is the Stand-up Batman.

Is there any cheap way to get to Primm Valley to ride Desperado if you're staying on the Vegas Strip for a few days?

We caught a bus from MGM to Primm/Buffalo Bills. It was like $10 a person but we found a coupon in a coupon book (grab all of them coupon books!) for free trips out there! It was worth the trip because not only is Desperado out there, there is also a Turbo Drop as well as a great outlet mall.

IMO, all of the coasters are worth hitting in Vegas. Don't forget the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere too!

Canyon Blaster gets my vote for best coaster on the Strip. It may "look like a dud" to you, but the ride offers a nice drop, a good jolt of airtime, and a very cool indoor setting.

Speed may be the best non-inverted shuttle coaster I have ridden. It's fast, smooth, and features some unique moments like the overbanked turn, plunging beneath the sidewalk, and blasting through the Sahara marquee.

Manhattan Express is a unique ride that may be a little rough, but the "twist and dive" element more than makes up for that. The $10 price tag is a little steep.... but it's worth at least 1 ride if you're in town.

Just because rides look lame to you does not necessarily mean that they are lame.

if you go to vegas go for gambling all of their coasters suck.

I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

Manhattan Express is totally worth it. The airtime is sweet and the loops are awsome. What cool is how this coaster out lines the entire hotel. The restraints were fine and really don't hurt. You really get thankful for them because this is the only one that comes right over the Vegas Strip and really scares you. If you stay at Luxor, Excalibur, or New York New York, then you'll get free coupons to ride Manhattan Express. You can also get an all day pass which is worth it. Manhattan Express is the best steelie to ride at night in the west after Goliath. The lights and effects they have for the New York New York hotel is a real treat and you can see all the way down the Vegas Strip.

Speed:The Ride is the only other coaster in Las Vegas that I really recommend. The ride has got mocksy, but what else? Lateral, vertical drops, a killer loop, and two sets of LIMs that will scare the living day lights out of you. Plus, you can't skip all the cool simulators and virtual racing at Nascar Cafe. Plus, go out back to the test track where you can drive a real a real stock car on there special race course with only a few hours of lessons.

Canyon Blaster's scenery is what will set it aside from everything else. The diving into buildings, over walls, into caves, and through tunnels is really cool, but you're not going to Circus Circus for Canyon Blaster alone. You're going to watch alive acrobat show while playing over 200 carnival games. Riding one of the best collection of flat rides out there. Getting soaked on there cool water ride. Next to the Starcade at Disneyland and maybe the School House at Visionland, you will never find a better aracade out here. Those quad decker ice cream comes are so good!!!

Desperado is a ways out of Las Vegas but is still a pretty good ride. It falls in the same category with Pepsi Max:Big One. It looks like an amazing coaster, but is rough and there are so few that love it. The ride has some great laterals and some ejector air, but Arrow really bores me with these gigantic 45 degree angled hills and the boring flat turns. Desperado is ok, but its roughness and rather scrawning course came be a let down. Hey, that three story interactive log flume is pretty good though.

Thanks for all of your input. I'll keep in mind your suggestions. It wouldn't hurt to try them all because who knows when I'll go back.. Manhattan Express at night looks killer!

S:TR rocks!
Try them all. Some advice I'll give to you is to not let someone else's opinion determine your decision. I'm glad I don't. Then I never wouldv'e ridden one of my favorite coasters Desperado. Everyone has different tastes, who knows which ones you'll like, but if you have the money try all of them, they are all unique in their own way, just like Vegas itself. The only one I haven't ridden is Manhatten Express, and I wish I would've, that thing looks so sweet at night. But you have to ride Big Shot at night, it ranks up there with one of the single best experiences I've ever had in my life. Have fun in Vegas, the city that has so much to offer.

The coasters in Vegas were not created with Coaster Enthusiasts in mind..they were made for the children. Keep in mind that many families go to Vegas and children cannot gamble..so what is there to do for them? You will begin to see more and more coasters evolve in the next few years and maybe the enthusiasts will finally get one tossed their way..possibly a giga.
that is why a few if not all aren't that extreme..if you really wanted to ride great coasters..drive to SFMM..it's not that far from Vegas.
If you choose to ride..bring money cause they aren't free...3 bucks or more for a single ride..

"if you go to vegas go for gambling "

AMEN!

I'm going there too but I'll be there like the 10th-13th. We are staying at the Excalibur and we just got our coupons for there. Primm is included in them. We get a free shuttle to Primm, and a free buffet out there. I'm pumped, lol.

The coupons for Manhatten are that if you ride Desperado and keep your ticket stub, then you get a buy one get one free on Manhatten. I've never heard that they give coupons for free rides if your staying in a certain hotel. Is that true. That'd be kool if the Excalibur did that.

How far are some of the rides from the Excalibur??? I want to know what I can really ride because everything I do ride will have to walked to. I heard Circus Circus is a lonnggg way from The Excalibur. Oh well. Thanks for the input if you have it.

Manhatten Express is right across from Excalibur there's a walkway you should have no problem getting there...
Speed, the Stratosphere and Circus Circus are pretty close together.. but they're at the other end of the strip, if you can somehow get a bus ride there I would do that... but if you can take a few miles of walking then it's worth it... when you get there there's this diner inside the Stratosphere (dont remember what its called but its really good) eat there or something, then go up the tower and do that, then cross the street to the Sahara, then go down a little ways cross again and go to the Adventuredome... oh and walk after it gets a little dark that way it won't be as hot

i dunno
bah

When I stayed at the New York New York and had my National dance competition at the Luxor, both hotels had these coupons for by one ride and get one ride free on the Manhattan Express. The coupons came with a bunch of other coupons for eating, riding, and relaxing at the Luxor, NY NY, and Excalibur.

Oh, by the way, there are eight hotels in Las Vegas that have there own 3D adventure ride, but the one that you should ride is at the Luxor. The ride's ques are even better than TR:TR.

Ride them all, even if they are made "for the kids". I liked all of them.

I always thought the real "enthusiasts" enjoyed riding roller coasters, but I guess some just look for the really great ones, and think all the rest just "suck".

Oh well, what do I know...
