As Intamin Fan mentioned. Jokers Jinx was running partly painted the second weekend of the season. Mind Eraser also still had some painting unfinished the first weekend. (Didn't get over to it the second weekend) I'm guessing that they will be finished up on week days when the park is not open early in the season. It's difficult to paint coasters in the winter with many paint systems since they often have a minimum application temperature of around 50 degrees.

It really wouldn't be too bad, nothing a paint spray gun couldn't make short work of. How bout a Premier Speghitti bowl coaster? I'm sure that's why it took so much longer to get Joker's Jinx at SFA painted. Imagine trying to get a cherry picker through this maze of track and supports to paint every square inch...

(BTW, they did an AMAZING job at SFA making Mind Eraser and Joker's Jinx look in what I consider better than new condition) *** Edited 5/9/2005 5:56:25 AM UTC by Coaster Lover***
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
Back to topic, do parks really THINK they're going to *change* the paint scheme that frequently? Seems pretty rare to completely swap out a paint scheme from my experience...
Jeremy was correct?!? Bullsh!t!
BTW: Did PKI *ever* finish painting Vortex? The dark blue was shaping up to be awesome.

But, if I were running a park, I'd find a good combination and buy an epoxy/urethane system.
Actually, the real nightmare on painting an Intamin would be the scraping and blasting to prepare it for the paint. But, that still probably isn't any worse than painting a woodie.

One of the older steel coasters at SFOT has had something like 10 different color schemes. I'm sure someone more familiar with SFOT can say which coaster and exactly how many color schemes.
The coaster you are refering to is Shockwave at SFOT and your right, it was something like 10 different color schemes. They did a feature on it a year or two back in RollerCoaster!, the ACE quartly magazine.
