CoasterBuzz Podcast #55 posted

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Jeff, Mike, Greg and Pat review this week's news in the amusement industry.

  • There's still an untold story about Bell's, so what is it?
  • Cedar Fair is sending Geauga Lake's X-Flight elsewhere. Lots to talk about with regards to the step-child of the company.
  • Off-topic: This season's video game wars.
  • Lots of CoasterBuzz Club events are coming in 2007, including the Fall Affair at Holiday World.

On the topic of advertising...

"Like this year - 'It's a surprise!', what's a surprise, yeah, it's a surprise it's still open!"

Ah, that made the episode. Thanks for that.

The worst part about those commercials was the fact that after the person opened the Geauga Lake "gift," he or she was then asked to open another, bigger gift. What's that gift supposed to be, Cedar Point?
Did we hear the first GeekBuzz podcast? I sense a spinoff. :p (Not to criticize... the game system discussion was one of the better podcast moments. I actually enjoy the program more when you guys go off on tangents for half an hour instead of trying to force discussion on a dozen news items.)
One of the biggest problems that Cedar Fair needs to fix at Geauga Lake is the quality of food. With the exception of Big Daddy's BBQ on the WWK, the food at GL is the WORST of any amusement park in Ohio and PA. The best food at the park was during Oktoberfest, and nothing besides Big Daddy's BBQ, which closes when WWK closes, even comes close.

I'm with you there. The food most definitely sucks. I don't care how small your operation is, if all you can offer is pizza and burgers, that's no choice at all. Something, anything, not deep fried or dripping in cheese would be fabulous.
Last time I was at GL, I left to go find a Subway. (This coming from the celiac who can't eat wheat!)

LOL, the more of this story that comes out, the more there seems to be...the people of Tulsa certainly have some real winners on their handS...(sarcasm absolutely intended)...

If your name is Murphy or Bjorklund, this MIGHT be your last best chance to escape Tulsa...take it! ;)

Jeff you mentioned something about not remembering exactly what the 2006 expansion was suposed to be at Geauga Lake. This isn't a list of attractions but, here is a rendering of what it was suposed to look like.

Ah, so it looks like another river, two slide towers and a restaurant and swim-up bar. If they had that stuff, seriously, it would be one of the nicest water parks pretty much anywhere. They could certainly use the capacity.
Here's a few suggestions I would like to see added by Geauga Lake food service...

Grilled Chicken w/vegetable wraps

Fresh Fruit Salad Bar and/or ala carte

Chargrilled Angus Beef burgers or Chargrilled Chicken with a side salad

Fresh toppings condiment bar for your grilled sandwich

Chicken or Beef Fajitas with vegetables **like the ones offered by the Oktoberfest vendors

Frozen Tropicana Twister slushies **orange flavor!

Vegetable Pizza and possibly test/sample Egg/Breakfast Pizza (my fav beside spinach pizza), which if done properly, it shouldn't include cheese.
