poopy pants? :) lol
Lord Gonchar, you dont sound as ominous as perceived. Methought you'd have that Count Dracula voice. :) Jeff sounds like my Sociology Professor.
Close enough.
Back in '91, I was a member of ACE and enjoyed the newsletters and mags (pre-internet, don't you know). The first and only ACE event I went to was at CP. It was somewhat superfluous since I worked at CP at the time and they have weekly employee ride nights, with shorter lines.
Anyhoo, they had Curtis Sommers as a guest speaker. It was very interesting hearing all the variables that went into designing Mean STreak, for example that it is designed to withstand earthquakes (in Ohio!).
Then, Mr. Sommers held a Q&A session. (Can you see where this is going?) Some enthusiast stands up and asks him, the guest speaker, if there is still any buffet left. (I don't remember the exact question, but it was some general question better asked of the waitstaff). He didn't know how to answer, and she started ranting about the food. She took up about 5 minutes just blathering on about how unfair the food situation was.
At the time, I just thought that was rude of her, but it makes me think about what Jeff said in this podcast. That enthusiass behaviour is something you might expect from teenage kids, not grown adults. It seems to me, thinking back on her, that she may have been somewhat mentally impaired. Maybe behaving 'like an adult' was not possible for her.
As an anology, would we get upset at someone is a wheelchair cause they're not walking? No. Maybe it's harder to recognize mental impairments than physical ones.
Anyway, the kooky behavior I've noticed at that event and Holiwood Nights came mainly from people who maybe couldn't have helped it.
The Ohio Seismic Network is a good place to look up such info. We have had 9 in Ohio since January.*** This post was edited by Sarah Jackson 6/6/2006 3:57:42 PM ***
And what's with Gonch's voice? Totally ruins the fantasy for me ;)
Oh and sorry The Mole, you are completely incorrect.
Singular is Alumnus
Plural is Alumni
Alumn or alumns are not real words.
And should I EVER have the good fortune to meet up with the Buzz crew at some event AND start acting like an Enthusiass... please feel free to deposit me in the nearest trash recepticle. I like talking "coaster shop", but conversations about buffets, food, other non-coaster stuff? Can do without.
