- Chicago area family parks struggle for various reasons. Mike says there is room for these parks, but they don't do a good job of marketing themselves.

- More on the Oakwood Hydro death. Very sad every time it comes up. The blame game is in motion.
- Michigan's Adventure will get a water line, and they opened Grand Rapid, their new river ride.
- Joyland: What's up with these small park operators and opposing forces?
- Gurnee wants to tack on another buck for Six Flags Great America parking.
- The big news: There is some evidence that Cedar Fair may be considering purchasing Paramount Parks. However, the alleged statement in the Toledo newspaper from Dick Kinzel was likely taken out of context.

Good podcast this week... for amusement purposes on the subject of Orlando parks and full time workers it should be noted the pay range for a ride host or hostess is $6.90 to $11.32 an hour... (still not really a living wage in the Orlando area.) The 'skilled' trades covered by the same collective bargaining agreement including horseshoers, wig artists and stage techs top around $19 an hour.
It also should be noted after the recent publicity about the hiring difficulties; the Service Trades Council of Unions (STCU) at WDW approached Disney suggesting it was time to raise the hourly minimums. This story of course appearing as a back page item in the Orlando Sentinel.
