Coaster track sitting around at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom

From a structural standpoint, that makes no sense to me whatsoever. If there are problems with a certain track section, just reweld!
My other screen name is NewBay, (I can't remember my log-in info,) and I talked about this a few weeks back in another thread. It's SFMW's shuttle you see at KK, and you can find a bit more info here:

I'm just glad the park will be able to free up a few parking spaces, we can sure use the room out here. *** Edited 1/30/2006 7:50:28 AM UTC by Menefee***

Looks like they are going to replace the loop and a few other sections of track. Sometimes the metal gets hairline stress fractures in it and the safest thing to do in that situation is to replace the whole piece of track. Bridges have this same problem, I think it's vibration that causes most of the problem. Sometimes if it's just a weld joint that cracked they can reweld it but it's probably not a good idea to fill in cracks that way! Welding also stresses the metal and causes it to crack easier if not heat treated afterward so they usually avoid doing too much welding after it leaves the factory. CP replaced a section of Raptor's cobra roll a few years back. It's not uncommon to do this.

Ooh! Ooh! Maybe they'll just add a second loop and move the first spike a little further out? LOL!
So they are replacing the loop, Troycoasterman155 only said that twice lol. ;)

I wouldn't say they're necessarily getting ready to replace those sections, they MIGHT just be *preparing* should that become necessary....these Antons weren't born yesterday... ;)
Ahhhh...If Now that that they have spare parts they are replacing sections of the KK ride then it stands to reason that 1. The defects/ware is not a New problem but has existed in the ride for some time and, 2. That they knew about it. I wonder If the maintaince management crew from Old Indiana is now working at KK. (The last year of operation Old Indiana had 4 Major Ride accidents Resulting in Dismemberment, Broken limbs, Paralyzation and Death. All caused by Know Mechanical Defects)
So if indeed these are replacement parts for SFKK's GL, it would lead one to believe that SF has no plans of selling off this park...just yet.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
What if they make the two loops interlocking into one ride? Similar to what SFGAdv had waaaay back in the day with Lightnin' Loops. Just a thought...

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

What a conclusion to make! I do believe however that it has long since been reported that regardless of quality and size, SFKK does not report in the red and is a decently profitable park in the chain.

This seems to just confirm that they intend on having the park around for at least a little while. While not much room to expand, SFKK could benefit greatly from the wide variety of rides SF inc. could potentially make available by selling off other parks. Its worked for SFKK once, why not many more times?

My hope, although prob misguided, is that it is Viper from SFAW, a classic that need not be forgotten!

SFKK would be impossible for SF to sell...they could sell the RIDES, but to sell land, you have to own it first... ;)
I hear you Troycoasterman155 even if no one else will!

It's great to see that SF hasn't forgotten about Kentucky Kingdom. If this is Shapiro's doing then he's off to a good start with the park. Hopefully they'll continue to improve the park with whatever it needs. And I'm glad that even if SF wanted to sell KK, they couldn't hehehe!;)
I don't know if anyone remembers but a while back i remember hearing that because of the airport getting a new runway that some land beside KK would be freed and KK was interested.....I think if they clean it up (which i think they will), KK will become very popular. Then they could add a actual new coaster;not saying the line up is terrible (excluding T2). Thunder Run is an awsome ride.

Ride count on the Voyage: 40 Most consecutive rides on the Voyage: 36 Day after thigh bruises from airtime: Priceless

Not possible. The shuttle that it there runs parallel to the road that cuts thru the park. Can't build perpendicular to it.

Aren't a few of SFKK's still leased from Vekoma? Or did they finally buy them?
Thanks Moosh...I noticed that after posting, and looking at rcdb's entry for the ride...well perhaps dueling launches then :)

Racing Schwarzkopf's Shuttle Loops!

LMAO! That's what I initially visualized as well. ;-)

You all need to read Troy's thread. It is for the new Loop on Greezed Lightning and is indeed from SFMW.
It's amazing the things you can visualize, right Tina? ;)
