Coaster Starved Northwest: When will it end?

Some waits for a roller coaster on season are longer then others. The Pacific Northwest still has no roller coasters to speak of. Natives to the area have no idea what they are missing. Thrillrides are what's found at the state fair. An inverted roller coaster, what that? -they say. What is the reason for the coaster industry's avoidance of the P.N.W.? Yes, Silverwood has two great coasters, but the park is not all that accessible. Comparatively the summers in the Northwest are the nicest in the country. Ya, it rains the rest of the time, but it hardly snows. If they can build coasters in Minneapolis they can build them here. So what's the hold up?
I agree whole heartedly! We have Seattle, Portland, Spokane, and Boise (trust me, we'd go there) all craving for some thrills. In Boise we get the fair that comes through once a year that brings all the whirl-n-hurls, but those things get old after a while. Not to mention your lunch goes on a ride of its own. And that's what people think roller coasters are like. "That would make me sick." "I get queasy just looking at that roller coaster." It's sad. It really is.

I think it is punishment for Seattle subjecting this nation to the Grunge fad.

Seriously! I went two years ago and all there was was a compact coaster in a compact park.

How far is Wild Waves/Enchanted Village from Seattle/Tacoma? They're set to get several new rides and coasters in coming years.

Ideas? A boardwalk woodie would be awesome. Oh, and how about a 740-foot coaster running down the space needle?......... sound familiar?

At one time the PNW had some great coasters and parks. In Portland,Oregon we had the Jantzen Beach Amusement Park with the Big Dipper coaster designed by Carl Phare. This coaster had a lot of similarities to the PNE/Playland Coaster in Vancouver,BC(only surviving Carl Phare coaster)Coastermad, you should make the trip north to Vancouver,BC and ride the PNE Coaster. This is one of the best coasters we Pacific Northwesterners have available to ride.I am surprised that more people dont' know about this coaster.Major airtime on this one!

Also ,e-mail the parks we do have in the area.Let them know what rides you would like to see there. For a park to consider building a new ride, they have to feel that it is a viable attraction.

The parks to watch in the Pacific Northwest are Enchanted Village/Wild Waves in Federal Way,WA and Thrillville,USA in Turner,OR(just south of Salem on I-5)EVWW is adding 10 new rides this year, including a 40 foot wild mouse type coaster.Thrillville keeps adding new attractions every year and they have the only Schwartzkopf coaster in the state of Oregon(Jet Star formerly of Santa Cruz Boardwalk)Oaks Park in Portland,OR has a lot of potential but seems reluctant to add much in the way of coasters or thrill rides.A CCI at this park I feel would be a huge money maker, considering its' central location in the Portland metropolitan area.If anyone could fit a wood coaster into this park,it would be CCI.

Don't forget no one has officially called The Great Northwest Theme Park project dead just yet (though a name change might be in order now). Even if so, an amusement park is being planned for a development that's going in near Seattle, on the Tualip Indian reservation.
Hmmmm......
