coaster solace ?'s

Does anyone know yet when it is this time and for anyone who has been in the past, is it worth it?

Winter Solace @ Knotts was on March 2nd last year. You get: Admission, T-Shirt, free parking, Door Prizes, Lunch, ERT, guest Speakers, and a little museum,. All for just $42.
Word is that there won't be a Winter Coaster Solace next year since Dana Hammontree was the only one who pushed for the event. I sure hope the event continues annually, and they better bring it back to January!

Don't be TOO surprised if Solace is either cancelled or GREATLY revised this time around...;)
I sure hope they have it as I only live five hours from knotts and am seriously considering going. It sounds like great fun and thanks for the info.

Its VERY doubtful that KBF will host Solace this season, considerring the fact that Dana was one of the only people in KBF management that cared about things like this, and the fact that KBF ops and enthusiasts REALLY didn't get along at all, it was a pretty "hostile" environment what with the severe stapling and the complaining enthusiasts.

I wouldn't say that the OPS and the enthusiasts didn't get along....IMO, it was more the KBF upper management decisions that were enforced by the ops. The evidence is far too strong....management TOLD the ops how to act (badly), or there would have been quite a few ops at the unemployment line. 90+% of the time, in any conflict between parks and "enthusiasts", the *blame* lies SQUARELY with the enthusiasts. Con was one of those "other" times...

I too would be VERY surprised if KBF decides to hold Solace...perhaps a dictionary would be of some use to KBF management...let's see here...Solace;)

Coaster Con was very embarasing for both ACE and the parks. The newest rides wern't open. It was embarasing for ACE because well, it seem like all they were doing in the end was compalin.

If all you are looking for is ERT, just go anyday on the weekdays. With so few people in the park, you will be able to do every ride in the park many many times over. And in addition, maybe the ops won't be as strict as they are at a special event like Con or Solace. :)

As for me, I like Solace because it is a nice chance to socialize with other local enthusiasts. The presenters are also very interesting to hear from.

I can go on the rides any time without waiting, but there is a lot more than that which makes Solace great... It would be a shame to see it canceled.

Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

CoasterFanMatt: That's a good suggestion for voldemort. I was there on a Monday a few weeks ago and we managed 4 walk-on rides on GhostRider (could have done many more) and about 20 (I actually lost count) rides on Xcelerator, including the last five cycles of the day without getting out of my seat!! And we were only there for about 6 hours, including taking an hour break to have a nice lunch at Ghost Town Grill.

Yeah, I have over 300 rides on Xcel under my belt already! I usually go once a week for about 2-3 hours (3 hour free parking ownz!) But yeah, Xcel and Ghost are always walk ons during the week, and less than 30 minutes on weekends.

You can blame all the whiners from Coaster Con for the lack of WCS. Shame on them. The poor new PR manager doesn't want anything to do with enthusiasts now.
