Coaster Similarities in the same park

Has anyone ever noticed how sometimes parks take old ideas that they have used and use them on newer rides? For example, At Kennywood, The Thunderbolt used to just consist of the ravine part of the ride. Then, Kennywood called someone to come expand on the ride but still kept the existing part of the ride. Now, they did that with the Steel Phantom. They left the lift hill and first incline but demolished the rest. Then they called someone to come and expand on the ride using the not demolished part as the beginning.
Can anyone else know of anyone parks who have done this to two or more of their rides?
