Coaster Seaons Kicks Off For Many Tomorrow

Tomorrow will kick off the 2002 season for a lot of people, including myself. I'll be hitting Carowinds at 9 AM for the grand opening of Ricochet. Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory and Rock Hill Mayor Pro Tempore Jim Reno, along with Carowinds manager Walt Burris will be cutting the ribbon. Steve Smith and Pat Jeffers of the Panthers, Charlotte Smith of the Sting, and Olympic bronze medal bobsledder Mike Kohn will be taking the inaugural ride. After 5 dry-months, I'm pretty excited about finally getting back on a coaster.

Im goin to PKD tomorrow...too bad hypersonic isnt going to open. now volcano's line is gonna be 2 1/2 hrs long. hopefully fof isnt too bad...

ricochet i can try later, wild maus was ok, but not the greatest.

i dont think that volcanos line will be any longer that 30 mins tommorow its so cold here and its supposed to be 40 tommorow i do not expect that many people to be there tommorow

You are all lucky you get to go to a park tomorrow. My home park SFDL doesn't open until may :( . Instead I'm going skiing since I live in NY. Its cool how alot of different parks are open but the ski place I'm going to just got another 3 feet of lake effect snow so now they have total something like 60 to 120 inches

I love living in southern California, where our parks are open year around. I just don't get how you guys can survive the entire winter (not just without coasters, but with all the weather problems, the cold, and all that stuff).

As I write this, I am but 9 hours away from the opening of my home park SFOG. I can't wait....now only if I can stay awake long enough to get there and enjoy it.

Yea, why does SFGAdv open nearly a month earlier than SFNE, yet they are only 3 hours apart? The temperature/weather difference can't be that big. Yes, BDK still hasnt begun testing, etc, but even with Nitro last year, SFGAdv opened 3 weeks earlier...just doesn't make much sense to me. Can anyone explain?

Well Coasterguy, New England=snow and cold weather still at this time of year, Great Adventure usually does not. And Matthew it's pretty easy for us non-year-round park goers to survive the winter, because we're used to it, and we like the variety.

I'm missing out on coasters bad. Pavilion, FC, and well, I've been bad to Carowinds for a few years now. Maybe next month!

But for those coming to NC or Myrtle Beach, it's colder around here than it's been in a month or more! I wanted to hit Family Kingdom today, but it's just going to cool off by the time I get down there. Just like the person said about Volcano, I don't think many want to ride in that cold stuff.

I hope some people post some trip reports at least.....

I have 32 coasters in my track record.....I'm so proud of myself.

I was going to be at PKD tomorrow and then at Busch Williams. the day after, but becuase of Hypersonic i decided not to, ive alread been to busch 3 times

Its a long wet winter in the UK without any coasting to liven things up. Blackpool is the first to open and as in previous years offered half price all day riding for the weekends in March, even though after 6 months without any coasting we would probably pay twice the price. So we were there at opening time on the 2nd ready to hear the slow clunk clunk of the chain lifts on their old woodies and the screams of the lucky ones in the back row of the 'Big One' as they whip over the top of that 200 foot first drop. Can't wait to get to Alton Towers for a shot on AIR.
