Riding the Bull anywhere but the back is merely going for a walk.
That nice, but I'm still trying to see two things. First, why there would be any benifit or room in the coaster world for a competing coaster preservation effort when we already have a successful one out there. Second, I fail to see how a kid's website with a few lines of text can realistically turn into a charitable organization.
I wish him all the luck in the world, but I'm sure there are much more productive ways for his time to be spent, even relating to coaster preservation.

They did a ton with the Leap The Dips preservation foundation. Not just with $, but with man hours, labor, etc.
A lot of their work goes into documenting history of coasters. If plans for the ACE museum are still rolling, it will be a VERY cool project!

I really don't think a 15 year old can run some sort-of coaster preservation thing with no money at all. People aren't just going to hand you money.

What coasters has ACE actually saved? They contributed a few thousand dollars to Leap The Dips, but that is all I can think of.-----------------

Besides Leap-the-Dips ACE helped preserve both of the Giant Dippers in CA. I read somewhere they helped move the Wildcat to Fronter City. Did you forget about the paint the Blue Streak event each year.
Thunder, people will take you more seriously if you buy a domain name and incorporate as a non profit. No one will hand money over to a "club" hosted on a free server.
Coaster File, the Blue Streak events were, to the best of my knowledge organized by the Conneaut Lake Preservation Society.

One thing I noticed in the last issue of AT is that ACE presented the museum with a considerable donation... wouldn't they be kind of donating the money to themselves?
The Phantom Gets it! But instead of preserving existing rides, That money is now specifically earmarked for a museum.
Chuck, who has no problem with a museum per sey. The more money donated The more they could do.

ACE is still preserving exsisting rides. The money that ACE donated to the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives didn't come from our preservation fund as some people were led to believe. The NRCMA is a totally separate entity from ACE.

How do you plan to save coasters without money? That's the single most important thing, and LOTS of it.
Please give us a synopsis of your buisness plan/plan of action. If you detail that (as compared to a list with just your name on it) then perhaps you would find someone interested to join with you.

Now, is this idea going to last as long as your "Give me $600,000 so I can go buy Thunder Eagle and put it in my backyard"?
Just making a page with e-mail me to get your name on a list is not a club in any means. Like practically everybody above has mentioned, your current plan won't work.

I think I am seeing a point on both sides here. Thunderfun is trying to rally the ranks and inspire us Enthusasts to band together to share ideas and organize efforts. Sometimes what you have to do is identify people who want to make a difference. Then once identified those people collaborate and brainstorm to come up with ideas on how to proceed with an effective action plan.
Peabody...please enlighten us with what you would do in this situation. (no offense)
Instead of criticizing... give ideas. There are no bad ideas.. as even bad ideas can spark something that would later be consider ingeneous.
Be happy to. I wouldn't do anything in that situation. I understand that I lack the buisness skills and knowledge to make such an effort work. All my training and secondary education is completely unrelated to organizing a charitable orginazation. Despite my degrees, reality tells me I'm not qualified to start up such an endeavor.
I would personally contact an established organization and offer my particular skills to help them however I could. This seems to be the smartest thing to do in light of the fact that a second coaster preservation group seems silly when we already have one!
