Coaster planned before Phantom's Revenge?

I was wondering if anyone knew what type of rollercoaster and the layout Kennywood had planned before they decided to revamp the Steel Phantom?  I remember hearing early in the planning stages that they were going to have to remove the steel phantom for their new coaster but since everyone was in an uproar about removing the phantom they scrapped those plans and revamped the phantom to what it is now.  I am just curious if anyone knows or has any guesses?

You probably heard misinformation that was generated on purpose. They did a good job of distracting us from what they were really doing.

I HIGHLY doubt that Kennywood changed any plans on-the-fly due to any sort of uproar.  People who believe that their complaints made a difference in a multimillion dollar plan are a bit too high on themselves.

A contract with Morgan didn't just suddenly materialize, or change, AFTER Kennywood had already announced they were getting something new.

Planning takes many years in the rollercoaster world, except for the second one.

Interesting!!..therefore I can put that question mark on CP's "supposedly" Super Impulse until they annouce it!

Well, I did read the words "B&M Inverted" a lot. It would be great to see one intertwined with PR & drop down the riverbank.
Yes, the words B&M Inverted were thrown around a lot, but not by the park, just by wishful enthusiasts

I agree, though, that a terrain inverted would be awesome, although I'd place it in back behind Racer and Log Jammer.  I think a full-circuit Intamin would be a good choice too, instead of the B&M.  Then there's that CCI woodie...

But this is all idle dreaming until Kennywood sticks in another coaster.
