Coaster Photo Contest???

Does anyone know where there may be a roller coaster photo contest. i have some great shots that I believe are contest quality and i want to submit them. if there arent any specifically for coasters. do you know of any contests that coaster photos could be used for?

What a great idea...I know that Cedar Point holds one at CoasterMania (I think?) but that's just for photos from their park...Maybe if there isn't a current one, someone could make up a site for it...I know I have some excellent photos that I would like to have voted on!

i would be more than willing to have a coaster photo contest on my site. maybe one every couple of weeks so people can get new pictures or use ones they currently have but its a shame that i wont be able to incoporate my own pictures into the contest. o well i just hope someone else has a coaster photo contest as well so i can send mine in. who in this forum would send pictures in to a photo contest. so i know how many people would participate so i dont start on and ends up bein a waste of time. if you would want to take part say i would and if enough respond see a photo contest in a couple of weeks.

Why not try to search for non-coaster photo sites, and submit the photos there. It doesn't matter what kind of picture you enter, right:)? I've thought of doing the same thing, I think they may even have them on services like Webshots, but not to win, but a chance just to put something somewhere. Plus, you look at around at the other pictures on some of those things(MyPhotos in another one, I think) that have nothing to do with the amusement parks, you see good ideas and tips that are useful for photographing the rides. Photography must be a great job(I need to go back to school:().

I'd be more than willing to enter some of my coaster photos into a contest, I've got a few nice ones of PR and MF already, and would love to get a chance to take more. I've really been getting into photography since Airtime Magazine used my Phantom's Revenge pictures.

thats a great idea! I'd definitely put in the pictures i have! But like beastnum1 said, id do one, but i'd want to enter my pics...but thats be cool if someone made a site

There's a store in the mall (I think Ritz Camera, I'm not sure) that has a monthly photo contest - it's not on-line, but there are prizes and such, and it's from "normal" people, rather than photographers and such. You might want to check with your local newspapers too, especially the Sunday edition - I know the newspaper here has a photo contest for people to take photos of their vacations - best scenery, not best shots of you!

yeah lots of joes r nice but many of them do not capture the beauty of the coaster. he likes to focus on one main point it seems like. i dont see many either that try to use natural features such as the sun and trees and other necessities. thats what i see to be a good coaster photo. i like to add surrounding features to my pictures. by the sounds of it i may start constructing a photo contest on my site, G-Screams. give me some ideas such as ways of contests. should i do specific manufacturer, park, or coaster. im thinkin of maybe coaster. get some well known coasters like big coasters that many people will have photos of. and then i can focus on the main points of the ride. so definitely expect a photo contest in the upcoming weeks after i have a photo update from my trip to PA this past weekend.

Jeff - who not do this for Coasterbuzz ? I know you have stated that you do not wish to have a photo section, but this might be the perfect chance to appease the people who want a photo section, but without having to deal with the major bandwidth it would take up. Just feature one photo on the front page every month. You could assign the judging to one moderator each month, cycling through the moderators, so that they could submit photos too. What do you think ? :)
