Coaster Mayhem...

SHORT TR forthcoming:

Ever since Prowler opened, it's gotten a lot of rave reviews. Stopped by last night after arriving at KC for a quick preview lap (as well as rides on the new-to-me Patriot and Spinning Dragons). Met up with AV Matt in the parking lot, and...the rain shut down pretty much everything last night. Out front was a sign posted saying Prowler was DDM. Arriving this morning for Patriot ERT, the sign out front still proclaimed Prowler to be down. :(

At lunch. it was announced the ride was down for a "friend motherboard". The park went WAY out of its way last night to find and prcure a new one to try and install for today. At the end of our (delicious) lunch with some VERY good KC barbeque, it was announced that "something went wrong with the new motherboard....and it won't be open for.....another twenty minutes."

Nice work on the suspense building, LOL. We made our way over there and found a short line, got on the back. Still a short line, got another ride on the front. Two rides within an hour of it opening, and I now KNOW why the ride has such great reviews. GCII in my experience doesn't build rides like this one. Skipping and jumping on the tracks VERY much like The Voyage's return leg....thinking TGG might need to consider suing for "patented intensity infringement".

P.S..Patriot is a really solid if unexceptonal B&M invert, and we got a REALLY good spinny ride on Spinning Dragons. This is a much different park than the one Jill and I visitied in....'03 we think.

Can NOT weait for tonght's ERT....Prowler baby! Me-ow, kitty! :)

Nice TR. But just one question: what's a 'friend motherboard'? Is that like a motherboard I'd like to friend? ;)

^LOL, nice...

...an actual friend called and unexpectedly joined us for ERT tonight. Had a fabulous time, the coaster was completely nuts, and each of the employees got at least one lap with us (always a good thing).

Want to give a shout-out to Brnadon - not sure of his title but he "hosted" us. Excellent employee, the closest I've ever seen anyone at CF come to duplicating the "Siebert mentality". Thanks, Brandon, we had a great time - the hard work on behalf of all the WoF employees was greatly appreciated.

Sorry I couldn't stick around for the evening Prowler ERT, and so glad I decided to delay my drive to Des Moines and pay the $16 to get into the morning Patriot ERT and lunch (and hang out with some of my most favorite people = Bill & Jill) in hopes that Prowler would reopen before I had to leave town. Those two laps just after opening were better than the 11pm laps I got last year over Labor Day Weekend and I loved the ride then. It's gotten even better! Glad Bubba was able to make it there in time to meet up with you guys and enjoy the night ERT.

Speaking of getting better, Patriot has improved immensely! I used to think it was a watered-down forceless variation of Talon, but man, it has really broken in! I rather liked it myself this time and enjoyed the ERT. Sadly Mamba still sucks on the return run unless you sit up front to get "any" airtime out of those bunny hops. Ironically I won a Mamba t-shirt at the lunch raffle. LOL

My beloved Timber Wolf was running pretty great though. Seemed like the trims were off (didn't feel them), but the ride still seemed to be running at "trimmed speed". Still I'd rather have that than feel the brakes grabbing the train.

I too think WoF did a great job at hosting the event. The lunch and morning ERT was well worth the $16 I paid. The staff seemed excited about the event, which reminded me of the Timber Wolf's glory days. It's been a while since I've been excited about Worlds of Fun. Prowler has made me a fan again.

I was wondering why I didn't see you at the Prowler ERT, Matt. Prowler was running very fast that night. Can't believe I have that ride at my park!

I wasn't even supposed to be there at all on Saturday. I had planned to go on Friday with some other friends that were going that day before we even knew Coaster Mayhem was happening that weekend. When we found Prowler closed on Friday, we decided to change our plans a little. ;)
