Coaster Fear

Dutchman I was at Rainbow Gardens once when I was little,it was my dads company picnic.

The only thing I can remember, they had some kind of flume ride and the swimming pool.

Rainbow Gardens was one of those parks that grew from a couple of attractions (the drive in and the pool, as I recall) to a full blown amusement park. I used to go roller skating there in the mid 1960's, as they had one of the few remaining rinks in the area. They had the usual compliment of rides, besides the wood coaster there was also a Wild Mouse. The state was going to build a freeway down the valley, and using eminent domain condemed the property. The rides were auctioned off,and the structures razed. As typical with what was to become PENNDOT nothing became of the freeway and what was Rainbow Gardens was a vacant field for many years.
