Coaster families: Be on Wife Swap

LostKause's avatar

Well, since we are talking about TV, the only show that I just have to watch is LOST. I've been with that show since the beginning and have never missed an episode. The last season (season 6) is coming us this winter, and after it is over I will have absolutely no reason to turn on the TV.

I've even changed my schedule at work so I could watch LOST...lol. The only evening that I work is Wednesday, which is LOST day. I told them that I have to be out of there before 9 o'clock...lol.

LOST puts any other TV drama to shame, imho, and has really raised the bar as far as network TV goes. Each episode is Box Office Motion Picture quality, imo.

And while I have admitted to watching Wife Swap, I don't think it is an amazing show or anything. I "get" the show and understand what the writers are trying to say, but I still agree that "reality" shows are still just crap. It's fun to watch when nothing else is on. I know that because people still watch garbage, garbage is still on the air. I contribute to the problem.

Not everything on TV is crap though, thank God. Rarely some dramas (House, Fringe, LOST), rarely some sitcoms (Everybody Loves Raymond, Seinfeld), and rarely some cartoons (Avatar - The Last Airbender, The Simpson, Spongebob, South Park) are very nice sometimes. Reruns of good TV pleases me because their is a deficate of decent, new TV these days.

Reality TV isn't all bad. I'll enjoy American Idol every once in a while. Even though it goes against some of my morals about the music business, I still find it quite entertaining sometimes. Same with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition...that Ty Pennington kills me...lol.

About "I'm a Celeberty. Get Me Out of Here!", I watched that stupid show for exactily two minutes before turning the channels.

That was a long rant. :) Now that I think about it, I do watch a lot of TV. I could live without it, except fo LOST.

I would agree with LOST.. I go into OCD mode for it.. I refuse to stop watching it because I invested so much time into it I have to know how it ends. Fortunately this is the last season coming as I was starting to get to the "ok..now we are just dragging it out" feeling.

As I mentioned I only saw Wife Swap once and was like, meh.. I vaguely remember FOX doing something similar, Trading Spouses, which leveraging FOX's style, put the absolute worst couples together. Then ABC sued them.. Not sure what came of that though.

Either way I had a hard time watching because I couldnt grasp the reasoning that moving someones spouse to anothers house would/should have any bearing on a household that abides by different "house" rules and an external persons opinion would/should have any sway over it.

But i guess that was my problem is I was being rational during a reality show.

I'm usually a "Dexter" kind of guy, but this Harper's Island show that's been on for that last few weeks, with a few more to go, has really held my interest lately.

I'm more of a pay-TV guy. The best shows have always been on HBO and SHO.

I knew Gonch was always a Curb fan!! (he even reminds me a little of Larry based on the blog and podcast! :) )

Hence my liking for Dexter, and Weeds (which started but I haven't turned SHO back on yet since we're moving in a couple of weeks), and Californication.

Sons of Anarchy isn't on a pay channel, but it's pretty awesome, too. I guess it's safe to say that I like the darker side of TV.

Weeds has started a bit on the slow side this season. I think Californication is the best show on TV.

I watched one of those paranormal shows once for about 12 minutes. They showed the female host hyperventilating and pointing at something saying "look there, there's a light, now it's a mist, it's moving, oh it's an aura, it's glowing." Of course, the entire time the camera is focused on her. By the time it panned over to where she was pointing, the "apparition" was gone. What a shame we didn't get to see it. Give me a break!

Pet psychic? What a joke. Here's what your dog is thinking-- I want food, I want sex, and I want to lie around doing nothing! Just like many humans.

Breaking Bad FTW. :)

Oh I agree, for the most part those shows suck. What I like about "Ghost Hunters" is that they try to debunk people's claims, and often can come up with a convincing theory or explanation for them. But they also come up with some pretty freaky video and audio that isn't easy to explain.

Wow, I sure hope their catering trucks have an ocean of gravy when they start filming...

Well, I think we need an all "Coaster Porn" Channel. They've got channels devoted everything else, so why not coasters?

I could see it now: Biographies on coaster dsigners (like Schmeck), coaster news, a weekly steel versus wood debate, coaster porn, kiddie coaster porn, "Who wants to Be a Coaster Designer?"

You get the idea.

That has the potential to become the coaster community's version of the Rickroll.

Hey look at these blueprints of Kings Dominion's new coaster.

That sort of thing. :)

No, its not still funny.

EDIT: OK, its still funny, but not nearly as funny as it once was.

I have to agree with you then again any show that has been around as long as The Simpsons has ( 20 years now ), is bound to lose some steam anyway.

Maybe I should claifuty my last post by "little coaster," porn, I ment some coaster vids for kids, a "baby Einstein," for coaster junkies in training. Get 'em hooked while they're young.
