The worlds a rollercoaster
And I’m not strapped in
Maybe I should hold with care, but
My hands are busy in the air- incubus
I think placement has more to do with the location of the ride.
At CP they point north, south, east and west.
SFMM's rides also point every direction except west....onl Log Jammer does and its a water ride.
Hmm at CP lets see.
Mean Streak- East
ID- East
Maggie-East
Raptor - East
Blue Streak - South
Gemeni - South
Corkscrew - South
Millie - North
DT - North
Mantis - North
Wildcat - North
CCMR - South
No ryhme nor reason but actually none of them point west, thats weird.

...and here I was thinking lifthills always pointed UP...;).
It could be (*WAG time*) that they don't want you getting blinded by the sun just as you're beginning the ride.

You mean like X-Flight where you are absolutely blinded by the sun on the lift?

Its funny someone mentioned lift hill direction... when I design in RCT, I lay out the park and coasters so the hills go every which way. Lift hills all going in one direction is kind of boring, it looks interesting when they're all heading off in different directions.
However, go to Wildwood and you'll see that pretty much every lift hill heads east (towards the ocean) or away from the ocean (west). I'm sure that, when Coney Island NY had tons of coasters, they all had lift hills aiming at the ocean, either because of space constraints or because it looks so cool to look out over the water when you're climbing the hill.
