Coaster design goes 3D on your PC

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

With the enormous success of Chris Sawyer's Roller Coaster Tycoon, you knew a 3D simulation couldn't be that far behind. Reactor Software is prepared to release Ultra Coaster. The software will let you design your rides and then ride them. You can even set your favorite ride to be your screen saver. You can download a demo of the software from Reactor's site.

when does this come out?
Was this the 10 dollar game that somebody talked about??? I downloaded the demo, I still pick TYCOON!!!!!!

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
I don't think so. That was different
I am impressed with this game from the demo, it seems very realistic.

What I would like to know is there an option to change the type of roller coaster,i.e. B&M Inverted?

Jeff- do you plan to buy this game or would you recomend it?
Their was COaster Factory... that was the 10$

This is different... *downloading the demo now*

S:ROS is the best... better than all the rest
Supposedly, Demo II is out tomorrow [on-ride footage] with the game set to be done either tomorrow or soon after. Price is ~$20.

I just finished giving the off-ride version of the demo a ride. WOW!!! It looks like it doesn't have the variety of RCT. On the other hand, it looks like the physical model being implemented is very realistic (although that one turn with the outside banking looks a little suspicious). Heck, they even got a visible chain on the lift and moving OTSRs :) I'm sold on it.

I can't get it to work. When I downloaded it and tryed to open it I got a error message " The file is damaged and cannot be opened"something like that. I don't have a 3d card. Do I need one for the demo? Do I need it for the game?

Here's what you need...

Pentium II 233 (or equivalent) with Windows 95, 98, ME, or 2000, DirectX 7.0 or later, 32 MB of RAM, Any 3D accelerator compatible with Direct3D (most cards support this)

Thanks.:) I need to go and buy a 3d card. Do you think it is worth buying a 3d card(for the game)? *** This post was edited by Andrew on 8/3/2000. ***
Andrew. I Think a 3d card is for the good of ALL games on your computer.

Correction: a 3D card is good for all 3D games on your computer. It won't do a bit of good for non-3D games like RCT.

A good card will run you about $100 so I'd wait for reviews of the full version before running out and picking one up just for this title.
