Coaster Companies = Car Companies?

EV I agree with you on everything except the Hummer/CCI comparison. I am also a car geek and I think Hummers are overpriced, gas guzzling hunks of metal. CCI's are more affordable, and pack punch....hmmm kinda like a Mustang Cobra.

Now if more parks would just buy their damn rides!

Yes this is true. It'd be great to see parks buy more CCI's but in my opinion having more being built at a faster rate may cause CCI to not produce the amazing coasters they are now. Of course this may not happen and I could be wrong. I normally am. :)

He meant "bimmer" as far as BMW, too. Only people that don't own them call them beemers.

Not to sound mean but that sounds like you own one and because of that your better than us dodge or plymouth or ford or whathaveyou people. So what so he said "beemer" instead if "bimmer" does it REALLY matter?! It just sounds quite snobby.

Nah. CCIs are CRXes. Little, they don't look much different from other cars in their class, pretty cheap, but some of them pack a hell of a punch.
My original thoughts actually were along the lines of B&M = Mercedes and Intamin = BMW, but I went with my Lexus/Honda analogy because of the larger portion of the market they control. I mean, Honda sells more Accords in a year than MB and BMW sell TOTAL. But, since you all are thinking more along the luxury lines, I start narrowing the discussion to individual styles equaling car models. So here goes.....

B&M = Mercedes Benz
Inverteds = E-Class. The main seller of both companies. Good ride and performance, and excellent money makers

Speed/Hyper = S-Class. The big mommas. Both well known for the extremely smooth ride.

Flying = SL-Class. The high-performance, technological wonder toys.

Dive Machine = M-Class. Both of these are a little different when compared with their stable mates

Intamin = BMW
Hypers = 5 series. The performance, the size, the aura. What everybody seems to want these days.

Impulses = 3 series. The compact performance model that provides great bang for the buck.

Wood = X5. Once again, the odd man out in the product line-up.

Arrow = Cadillac
4D = CTS. The new, different way-out-on-the-edge design.

Mega-loopers = Deville. At one time, the ride to have, but now just liked by us old-timers.

Hypers = Escalade. Big, bad, and beautiful.

Vekoma = Chrysler
Flyers = Prowler. Nice, unique design, but some wonder if they couldn't have done more (V8?)

GIB = 300M. Nice performance, but really questionable reliability.

Boomerangs = Neon. Cheap and everywhere.

Togo = Mazda
Ultra-Twister = RX7. A unique bit of technology that made a brief splash.

Stand-ups = Millenia. Something different that never really caught on, and are being replaced.

Anyone have more?

Later,
EV

CCI = Hummer

Well, they both cost about the same, I'll give you that.

"When I was growing up, we were taught something called manners. You'd understand that if you weren't such an idiot." - Jack Handey

Beemer... Bimmer... sheesh.. What a joke.

I live in Greenville, SC. 10 minutes up the road towards Spartanburg, SC there is a massive BMW plant that builds every single Z3 that's been made. Workers in the plant are offered to opportunity to lease a BMW for an outlandishly wonderful price of about 200 dollars/month. That includes insurance and everything. Every 6 months, they are given the option to buy that car at wonderful interest rates through their credit union, or given a new one. These cars are sold at BMW dealerships as demo cars. Needless to say, this plant employs hundreds, if not thousands of people who know a good deal when the see one. Greenville is flooded with BMW drivers. They work in the plant AND drive them and call them BEEMERS.

I guess since most don't actually OWN the cars they don't know what they're talking about, and therefore mispronounce the "nickname" of a car company they work for.

Sorrrrrrrry folks! Parks closed. The moose out front should have told you.

Thank you Homey G. I go to a school with a few rich kids who own beemers, they call them beemers.

But if you think about it, B&M is like Astin Martin - Sleek, expensive, great running, great looking, and smooth.
