Yes, sure they are. However, there has been this long standing theory that if you belong to a club, you've got some automatic "in." It has never been further from the actual case, and some enthusiasts have made real pests of themselves as far as getting into these events.
The parks invite a controlled group of people they trust to said events. If that interests you, contact a representative of your club and ask them about it. Just don't approach it like it's owed to you.

Goofyrules,
Glad to see you have a logical way of thinking. I also fully agree with Jeff on the fact that some enthusiasts truly do make 'enthusiasses' of themselves. There is nothing worse than watching a few bad club members acting in a very negative way at a media event while representing the club you are with.
Some parks invite less and less enthusiasts to ride openings due to unruly nature of some of their actions. It doesn't even have to be at the park for this to happen. You can bet that certain parks read boards like this from time to time and know who to invite and who NOT to invite. It's all about who the park can trust.
Sad to say though there still are those greedy individuals that think just because they are in a coaster club, they are expected to be invited to things like media day without question. I never have understood why people get that way when ride openings come. If they have been to a media day then perhaps they would understand it isn't like a coaster event. Perhaps parks can stop inviting enthusiasts all together. Then perhaps we would see a decline in those joining the clubs for, IMO, the wrong reasons.

Sean, that's got me thinking....maybe we can have "those folks" start their own club. I suggest we have a contest for naming the Coaster Enthusiass club!
And since I am the creative force that I am, LOL, I'll start the ball rolling: We Enthusiasses Are Kings... (WEAK)...
goofyrules, thanks for helping us "show them the light", so to speak...
Bill,
LOL! That's very funny!
-Sean (who guesses there will be a fair share of members in that club soon)
