This might have been covered before, since I am kinda new to this forum. But I was wondering where people find out about the coasters that are being closed/replaced/sold from the parks. I think it would be a good idea for parks to announce these things for those who might want to get in one last ride or make sure they get in their first. I saw Dorney lost the Laser since I last went and, although it sucked, Kings Dominion gave the Hypersonic XLC the boot, but got the Dominator.
Yep Coasterphan has that right. You could also religiously check RCDB, but that is in no way recommended, because by the time it has gotten there it has probably been talked to death here. :)
Even with advance notice, it is still sometimes not possible to get those last rides in.
With Laser, even though it was sold a few months before the park closed for the season, I went to the park 3 times in October and on all 3 of those visits it was closed. Very fusturating and annoying since there was nothing mechanically wrong with the ride at the time.
Speaking of big bad wolf, aren't banners around the park celebrating its anniversary?
Well, I'm glad I got to ride The Big Bad Wolf (BBW) again in October. My buddy and I hit the park during their Halloween hours and the park was empty. We rode every coaster within the first hour of being there - a few of them multiple times. It would be sad to see the BBW go as I was so pumped as a kid to ride this, so there is some nostalgia to it. I hope they don't get rid of the Loch Ness anytime soon. :(
Unlike BBW LNM is not a maintenance nightmare and is the pseudo symbol/wenie of the park. Just look at most of their marketing the double loop is placed prominently in most of their material. I doubt that ride is going anywhere.
And sometimes you STILL won't find out that a coaster is closing until it is too late (i.e. BBW. Is it still open for this year???).
