Coaster Chaser

So this girl I just met said to me, "I hear you're a coaster chaser"...and now that is what they all call me. Apparently some new friends I met knew this other "coaster chaser" and they think it is so cool. Every time we talk, they ask about some new coaster. FYI, if a member of the GP asks about the one that starts with an "H", they are talking about the Hulk. There are about 2 car loads of people that swear they are coming with me to Hades when it opens, but we'll see who the real coaster chasers are when the time comes. Of course the jokes about literally chasing coasters are so funny each and every time they make them.

So what do the GPers in your life think about coaster chasters...errrr....coaster enthusiasts? *** Edited 3/16/2005 11:10:02 PM UTC by RavenTTD***

Well my best friend is a coaster enthusiast and my girlfriend hates them. She doesn't think I'm weird because I build K'nex models and have coaster stuff all around my room, she just thinks I'm a little different.

However, at school when I'm drawing blueprints out for new stuff, I always get some weird looks. I guess it's just usual for us hardcore fans, eh?

Is 'coaster chaser' a derivative of 'chubby chaser?'

Nevermind.

Hey Gonch! Thanks to the recent episode of CSI I was thinking the same thing, but like you said...nevermind.

I, for one, can't wait for the Italian Job to open...looks awesome to me!

My friends just say that I am obsessed with coasters or a coaster enthusiast.

I remember one time when I had four seperate K'NEX coasters in my room, and all of my friends thought it was pretty cool.

LG, you beat me to it!

You TOP, you. ;)

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

I prefer "coaster nut", "coaster looney", or "Knight of the Round Helix" ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

I've never heard the term coaster chaser. Is it like those tornado chasers like in Twister? That was the first thing I thought of when you said coaster chaser.

My friends and family and coworkers are all used to it. They think I am crazy but they love hearing my TR's.

It's always fun whenever you ask off for vacation and your boss is like "So what park are you going to this time?". "You are flying across country just to ride coasters?" "Where is Knoebels?" "You drove all the way to Canada by yourself?" "Have you ever considered therapy?" lol.

:-D

Why chase a coaster? If you wait about two minutes or so, it comes right back to the same place.

Ha! You're right. A few weeks back there was a CSI episode on the subject - even had the bearded chick from Carnivale in it. :)

Who knew a big girl fetish could be hazardous to your health?

My friend Jamaal has been on my last 2 coaster trips, he's learning the lingo, even calling me a credit whore...

But he isn't really into coasters. He did like X, though, so good for him.

I don't really talk about coasters to my friends in school, so i guess most of them probably don't even know that i am so into them. Some friends do know, but they don't talk to me about it all that much. My cousin is really the only hard core coaster enthusiast like me that i go to parks with. My relatives talk to me about it every now and then, like my little cousin was so proud of himself for riding the big bad wolf at BGW.

My parents just say "call us when you get there, wherever you are going, to let us know you are safe". lol.

Jamaal is a blast to hang out with, CLint. Maybe you will convince him to join the "dark side" eventually.

My friend Traci is the same. She is not an "enthusiast" but she likes coasters. I took her to Coastermania last year (first time to CP for her) and she LOVED it. She learned the "lingo" as well, and loved hanging with my friends.

my friends call me a coaster whore.

Thanks,
DMC

It's kind of like "train spotter" which has been around for awhile.
So I'm at the bar with one of my friends the other night when he calls this other dude to ask him to come out, and this other dude was watching one of the coaster shows. They were showing Hypersonic so they quizzed me on speed and acceleration and other stuff and seemed to find it quite funny that I knew all the answers. I'm starting think we're weird...or at least I'm weird.

^^ I'm really pretty sure "Trainspotting" isn't in the lingo of most coaster enthusiasts. I don't think I'd want the 2 terms associated.

In any case, I'm not really all that into coasters like I used to be, I'm more into hanging out at parks with my friends, taking good pictures of everything including scenery and buildings, and locating the park's bars. :)
