Coaster Cars in Junkyard Wars

I'm watching Junkyard Wars on TLC right now (midnight, February 4th) and the teams are building dragboats. At least one of the teams is using the lead car of an Arrow looper that they found in the junkyard for a hull! It looks like there was a second car (of a different color) that was being used, but now I don't see it. The lead car is red with a blue stripe with stars on it down the side and it simply says "Six Flags" on the nose and says "Freedom" in script somewhere near the rear of the car. Tis a bit sad to see a coaster car being ripped to shreds, but very cool to see it being turned into a boat!

"And we are now passing under Millennium Force, which, with the arrival of Top Thrill Dragster, is now...just blue."
Maybe an old car from the Wabash Cannonball at Opryland USA? It a blue train with white striping.

(Though I don't know if it was ever re-letterd for Six Flags after Premier purchased all of OL's rides)

In the credits at the end they thanked Magic Mountain, so I can only assume it's from there...

(I tuned in near the end, and didn't even notice it was a coaster car...)

"Is this a rollercoaster?"

SFMM has only had three Arrow coasters: Gold Rusher [running their stock mine train themed cars], Ninja [using suspended cars] and Viper, which uses the cars commonly found on their looping coasters. All three are still in operation. None of those coasters featured trains with the color blue, stars, nor the word freedom.

I suspect the park obtained the train bodies from some other Six Flags boneyard specifically for the show, or to use as [possible] replacements parts for Viper but never used them.

Sounds like an RCBD search is in order if no one recognizes the color scheme.

Hmmm, well, they might belong to Shockwave from SFGAm. Didn't it have a blue train?
If it said "Freedom" on the car, it is most definitely from SFGAdv's Great American Scream Machine. The three GASM trains are named (I believe) "Freedom", "Liberty", and "Spirit".

Here it is without the stars: http://joyrides.com/sfgad/full/gasm1.htm

My guess is that SFGAdv sent some old Arrow trains to SFMM for parts and the tubs ended up in some junkyard.

Yeah. It's definitely from GASM, if it says freedom on the side.

Here's some pics from the episode, looks like a GASM train, but we still have 3 trains at GADV, so what gives?

Could very easily have just been old tubs. I'm sure as old as GASM is, its had its tubs replaced a couple of times. Especially if there were only a couple of them lying around, probably just a replacement of old tubs.

Good call Nate....definitely, that was it.

Probably woulda run smoother as a boat anyway....;)

But I bet it still wouldn't be able to run in a smooth line between any two points ;)

I like the re-christening of the Arrow car as "Slayer." Nothing says headbanging like Slayer.

I actually saw that shell in the scrapheap on the episode where they made the devices that couldn't spill water while driving them. It was pretty close to one of the teams workshops, actually.
Isn't JW a UK game show? if so theen how the heck did car bodies from an Arrow looper end up going all the way across the pond from thUS to the UK?

It could've been one of the car bodies from BPB's Revolution(Arrow shuttle looper) but I just don't see an Arrow train/car body being sent all the way over there from our side of the pond for something as trivial as that.

If you look at the design on the car (and especially if it said "freedom") there's no question its GASM. So patriotic.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Deffinatly GASM http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery34.htm?Picture=9 New tubs perhaps? http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery34.htm?Picture=3 Same design though.

The show originated in the UK, but they've been doing a US version for quite a while now.

GASM, Shockwave, and Viper all have/had 4 storage bays to keep an extra train if one went down for maintenance...

...and such
