Coaster Buzz B&M Poll...Followup

I have this question for you... who won't want any type of B&M at their park?

My home park of PCW is B&M less and many times when we are at the back of park near White Water Canyon we point and say, "Wouldn't a B&M look real good here?" But until I hear that sweet sound of the B&M roar at my park I will have to settle for it at the other parks we visit.

Here is one more for you?  Is there any sweeter sound than the B&M roar? The only thing close is the HW Legend tunnel roar. (my first B&M roar was CP's Raptor)

Regards,

Kevin Reid

Sweeter sounds?  Yeah, but this is a "family site."  ;)

B&M's are cool, but not as essential to me as good wood.

I'm not 100% sure what B&M would fit at at least one of my home parks, perhaps even two. Seriously, after riding Bat-Flight, I quickly realized that I'm not a big fan of the "Face Down, Butt up" (2live Crew fans will appreciate that :)) flying position so that's out IMO.

But really, looking @ PKD and SFA, what B&M would fit? In the case of SFA, *maybe* a floorless would work as they have no standard looper. A Standup would be okay too I guess, but they seem to have fallen from graces. And though I'd love to see an invert, well they already have one.

On PKDs side, I dont *ever* see them getting a B&M aside from maybe a flyer. While PKD 'could' get a hyper, a B&M hyper seems too 'tame' for PKD's image (I mean even their mouse has 'tude). They really dont need an invert with Volcano, nor a looper with FoF and Anaconda. Heheheh on second thought, maybe they'll get a launched like Hulk (this *IS* PKD ya know...)

jeremy, based on my experience, I'd say it takes about 5 years for a stand-up Beemer to begin the descent from grace to.......and yes, PKD *definitely* needs a launch coaster!
Jeremy, how do you know PKD's mouse has 'tude, you haven't ridden it yet. :-P

I've been on the clone of it at PCW, and while different, wasn't nearly as good as HP's Mouse, IMO.

Also, does your definition of 'tude mean "boring" or "headbanging?"  In that case, most all PKD's coasters definitely do have 'tude! ;)

JC, who seriously doesn't like PKD, but will always go there because of Volcano.

Steel Phantom/Phantom's Revenge has a roar like no other.  It sounds like a jet soaring by.  Very cool.

B&M's are good coasters but IMO not as good as most people rave about them.  They are too smooth for my liking(except Iron Wolf).  After visiting IOA and BGT for the first time, I got sick of B&M's.  Yes they are all unique in their own way but to me they all seem too similar.  Huge loop after drop, huge cobra rolls, interlocking corkscrews (flatspins or whatever you wanna call them) off trim brakes.  I guess I just like getting whipped and banged around rather than feeling like I'm sliding on ice.

I think a B&M would fit nicely at PKI though.

B&M makes nice rides, but so do plenty of other manufacturers. As far as the poll goes (that was the topic of this thread, right?) I voted "Wait and see" for a couple reasons.

1. The Vekoma Flyers do very little for me. I'm not sure I see much more offered with the B&M Flyers.

2. Unlike many other enthusiasts, I don't automatically drool over those little letters (B&M) - they make great coasters, but like I started this reply, so do many other manufacturers. I'd personally take a MF or S:ROS over an Apollo's Chariot or Nitro at my home park. That's not to say the B&M's aren't good, in fact they're fabulous - but I prefer the Intamins.

Just giving my POV. I think the flying coaster thing will pan out much like the standing coaster thing did. Nice rides, nothing too spectacular. A bunch will be built at first then it'll trickle off and they'll be seen as more of a novelty.

JC (hey those are *my* initals...GIVE 'EM BACK :)), in the grand scheme of things I think all mouse coasters have a certain level of "suck-ation" (and YES that includes Exterminator). But I was going off of how they were 'marketing' Ricochet as a somewhat "meaner" mouse. All of their coasters are "aggressive"; either having intensity (H:XLC), pain (Anaconda) or some combination of the two (the 'old' FoF).

I think that B&M just has a reputation as such that whenever we hear that they are designing a ride, we know it will be of good quality... sure some might like Millenium Force better than Nitro, but thats not the point.

The point is that they are both good rides, and most parks would be better off with either of them.

Now as for the flyers.  I have to think that B&M has the right idea with the flying coaster.  The point is to fly, not go upside down.  Now I have never been on a flying coaster, Vekoma or B&M.  But in my opinion, inversions on a flying coaster are beside the point, which is the sensation of flight.

For that reason, I'd be glad to have a B&M flying coaster at my home park.

I can only dream of a B&M at Sea World San Diego, or anywhere in San Diego....wait, I can dream of any type of coaster to be built here.

bill, thinking that by combining Anaconda's pain factor and H:XLC's extreme intensity, jeremy means that the "old FoF" was in fact, extremely, intensely painful...also that while KW's Xterminator may have been "just a mouse" it IS the mouse that ROARS!  (Of course, I am admittedly a sucker for great theming, and this ride has it).  But, I usually don't go for horizontally-spinning rides, and this one's just better...guess I need to give Primeval Whirl a ....whirl...and actually SEE a Reverchon in operation...;)

Back to the Beemers...I think anyone with an SLC should really consider the MAJOR upgrade if they can afford it.  Their standard steel loopers (and floorless, which IMO is basically the same only more expensive) are top-of-the-line coasters too.  But for a hyper, Intamin for me...but let ME pick the layout, LOL.  As for flyers, I'll have to get back to you...SOON!
