Coaster Accident in Branson, MO

As reported on a lead-in for the 10 o'clock news on KSPR 33 in Springfield, MO:

"An accident on a rollercoaster in Branson closes the ride and injures seven."

I don't know whether the accident happened at Silver Dollar City or Branson USA Amusement Park, but I would bet that had it happened at SDC, they would have mentioned the park by name in the lead-in. I searched high and low, far and wide for more information but can find none. As soon as I find more, I will edit this post and submit a news story.

According to the "official" count, next year's new coaster lineup will feature 17 Arrow 4-Ds, 21 TA2Ks, 34 B&M floorless's, 17 Intamin Gigas, 12 beemer flyers, and 247 CCIs. And oh yeah, CP will receive one of all of these.
Please not Wildfire!:(

News Update:

The accident occurred at Branson USA Amusement Park on the Firestorm rollercoaster. On Saturday night (07/21/01), a set of brakes failed causing one train to collide with another in the station. Eight, not seven, were injured on the ride and taken to the hospital for medical attention. However, no one was seriously injured and all have been release from medical care.

I wonder if Markey and the other trolls on capitol hill will hear of this and start preaching coaster hellfire and damnation again. The news station, KSPR33 of Springfield, did a good job in giving a balanced story, and even showed a testimonial from a city official telling how well the park conducts safety inspections. Although it is a minor accident, I still see it being a headliner from Markey and Co.
