CNN headline news live from CP

CNN has been talking about a coaster ressession and has been coming live from CP when they talk about it, I seen It around 2:05-2:10pm and headline news usally repeats every hour or half hour. I didnt catch all of the clip but it talks about how attendance is down in alot of parks.

That's ironic because on the conference call this morning Dick Kinzel said attendance is up 4% this year through July. While they were mostly flat last year, it sounds like they're doing much better this year whereas everyone else isn't. They're unhappy with the numbers at Michigan's Adventure too, but have raised per capita spending there up enought to offset the loss in bodies.

Jeff, I saw the piece and Bruce Jackson stated that attendance was up but per cap spending was flat. He went on to say that overall, give the economy and events of the past 12 months, they are happy with where they are at this point.

I was just at Michigan's Adventure last weekend and as crowded as it was I just don't understand how their numbers could be down.

The midways were almost as crowded as Indiana Beach gets on a nice day. There was no line under 20 minutes for any coaster.

Oh well what can you do. I heard a few people there saying it is not Cedar Point and there is not much to do so they wont be back for a while. Personally I like Michigan's Adventure and not having to feel rushed to get through the park in one day!

As I am listening to the webcast (god I love technology) a few interesting things have been stated. Cedar Point attendence is up, of course. Valleyfair is down due to no significant capital expenditure, well duh! Dorney continues to have increased attendence (see what a B & M can do for ya?) and Knotts was up 1 percent since Excelerator opened. WOF is up 2%. MA was down, but per capita spending was up, could this be due to better merchandise and food being offered?

Was it just me or did the H & R block lady not care what she was being told.

Kinzel also commented that Camp Snoopy was at every park except Valleyfair due to the management contract with Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America. Does that contract contain a competition clause? (Jeff may know this)

I don't know, but it makes sense to avoid confusing the consumers or saying, "Why bother go to [one place] if I can just go to [the other place]."

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at SFCB.

Michigan Adventure is the worst park ever! I can't believe CF bought that **** hole.
Slow news day?
