CNN Frontpage

The CNN.com frontpage currently has a list of the top 30 parks in total attendance. This might be worth a look to some of you, but the thing that caught my eye and gave me a laugh was that their picture they used of a "thrilling coaster" I guess supposed to be some sort of looper, is nothing more than a picture of Xcelerator turned upside down. You'd think that with all the loopers in this country, they could find a picture of a coaster that actually loops! Enjoy!

(Look at the headrests, that's how I could tell it was Xcelerator - only two coasters have that kind of rest and only one is bluish)

Wow, that's hilarious! If the ride was configured like that, it'd be awfully painful!

BTW, DCA was well up there! And isn't it Islands of Adventure? (not Islands of Adventures)

Here is the pic he is talking about.

So what are #'s 29 and 30? It seems kind of strange to list "Top 30" and only have 1-28?

Some of the parks really suprise me and some I would have thought be switched around. SFWoA suprised me for 2002 (I would look for them to be more high in 2003). BGW suprised me since I thought it would have been higher on the list. And PKI and CP came in pretty darn close. Nice list to look at.

If you look closer numbers 11 and 15 are tied...thats why it stops at 28

Ahhh thanks, I was just quickly browsing and it skipped over me.

I'm surprised that several seasonal parks (SFGAdv, CP, PKI) beat SFMM in attendence. Notice that the first 13 or so are all open year-round.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

I wonder if they like entertaining enthusiasts?

Oh yeah, why are disney parks always the top 10 or whatever parks. Why don't they consider them as one or 2 different parks(Florida and Cali.) Most people who go to one generaly get one of the passes to go to any of them. In Newsweek the reason parks like Cedar Point ect were in the teens was because they had ALL of the disney parks in the top ten or so. I am not trying to bash those parks but it sometimes bugs me

I'm glad Silver Dollar City is up there. They deserve it ;)

Though 28th really pisses me off.

Edit: Ohh, I didn't realize it was base on last year's attendance. ;)

Look who got there faster Jim :)

yeah, i dont put much creedance in that list in terms of being the "best"
Everyone knows that the Disney's and Universal's would beat out a lot of parks. One, they are open year round. Two, people come from all over the world to visit them.
Also, look what else was up there... Camp Snoopy?!?!?! Ohh my.

If you needed to look at the headrests to identify Xcelerator, you should try a little harder. Train theming and/or length is a dead giveaway and takes a half second to notice.

No need to scrutinize the picture at all -- the caption that says "Xcelerator takes riders upside down in Buena Park" does it...

Well if you read my original post I said the picture on the main page was Xcelerator. I hadn't even clicked the link to the story when I made this post. I identified the coaster by 3 1/2 people's heads and two headrests if you look at the pic on www.cnn.com (the main page which has the link to the full picture). Sorry your coaster-eminence that I'm not up to your enthusiast standards ...
