CNL to purchase Cedar Fair

Submitted this to news, but figured I'd post it here first. I thought the quote below was most interesting!

Though CNL Lifestyle Properties will retain ownership of the Cedar Fair amsuement Parks, all properties will be managed by CNL partner Herschend Family Entertainment

That's pretty flippin sweet, IMO!

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I'm more interested in finding out if Charmland survived the bailout crisis, and more importantly, if they've paid back the taxpayers yet.

So if Herschend is going to manage the parks I guess that rules out any hope for the Hooters chain coming to Cedar Point;)

Who needs Hooters when you have Dolly? ;)

I might actually have to get a season pass this year if that is the case! The platinum pass will include Dollywood, right? ;)

Not sure, since Herschend is just managing, but Gosh, that'd be nice, to have a Platinum Pass and go to Carowinds AND Dollywood on it :).

Good one Tek........

I would certainly like to see Herschend manage Knotts Berry Farm because that park formerly was so much like SDC and DW when it was family owned. In those days, so much emphasis was placed on the theming, especially the Western themes. The food was good and reasonably priced. The park had more atmosphere as well. Much of that was lost with the Cedar Fair takeover.

I always believed that KBF would have been a perfect addition to the Herschend parks because of the type of park it was. It was the best of the Western themed parks back when the Knotts family owned it.

The one thing I am concerned about is that SDC and DW might become more like Cedar Fair parks. Too much emphasis on thrill rides, loss of theming and overpriced mediocre food would be the main concerns. These parks were always known for the themed experience, a nice mix of rides, shows, and general overall atmosphere, and good food. As far as the big time thrill seekers are concerned, let them go to WOF and Carowinds.

They removed the park's oxygen?

Hi

Didn't you hear? When George Roose stepped down from the BOD he took it with him, or was it that Robert Munger swept it out with him......

I imagine it being done with a giant vacuum cleaner, like in Spaceballs
