Closing of Cypress Gardens

I recently heard on the radio that Cypress Gardens, a small central Florida attraction, is closing. The park was recently (1995) sold to a private corporation by Anheuser-Busch, and the current owners site a 6 million dollar loss and drop of 42,000 visitors since March of last year. The park sites declining tourism since Sept. 11 as a major influencing factor, as well as increased competition from nearby Orlando attractions.

Too bad - that's one piece of natural Florida beauty that's getting more and more difficult to find. Not really coaster related, but I think we can all agree that closing of any park is a sad thing. Just wondering if anyone else had heard any scuttlebutt about it.
