Clementon Park Sold - Jack Rabbit may run again

whew... For a second I thougth Kieran Burke was making a come back. :)

A day at the park is what you make it!

I heard * he also bought 2 other parks
but no names mentioned.
Maybe he always wanted a park or 2 of his own and has the $ to do it.

Clementon does get alot of Company picnics and those are the days when the park if packed.

I go to a company picnic once a year in Sept. with a Local hospital.
I just eat ,drink and ride Tsunami all day all for $15 and the buffet is open for 5 hours. LOL

The park the way it was when I was a kid in the early 70's rminds me of how Knobels is now.

That statement says a lot about how bad the place has become.

I haven't been to Knobels in 10 years
but i'm sure its about the same.
will be there this year

CLAP still has their Chaos? It's still on their website...

Maybe the website is out-of-date? ;)

Exactly! Clementon seems to have destroyed it's atmosphere for a bunch of uncomfortable or all-too-common Chance rides.

Why do I suddenly not feel so good?

where the waterpark now stands
there was a miniature golf and many trees and benches to sit and relax
the park has become "harder"
up past the ferris wheel there is still some old trees and a bench or 2 left over from years past.

The area under Tsunami and around the Picnic pavilions is still all dirt and stone.
this area could use some work.

AND RUN 2 TRAINS ON TSUNAMI

I've never been to the park, but I don't understand the issue with J2. Why do they only run one train? I guess it has something to do with money. Is the ride closed right now because they can't afford to fix it?
They ran two trains on the thing when it first opened. Why that changed, I have no idea. It's not like those are very high-capacity trains... just 16 riders.
Its a Joke only Larry Baker (owner of the park) would do.
He Sends the one trains to PTC for rehab during the season then sends the 2nd trains to PTC during the next season (both During the season).

Why can't they send both to PTC after the season is over In Sept.

I asked this to Tom Ribbie at Eastcaoster this year and he said thats what they wanted ?

I also asked Tom if I could buy the Tsunami sign that was on the front of the trains.
he said noway

The line very rarely warrants 2 train operation. He saves money by only paying for 1 rehabbed train a year. However, he's bringing back the Red train any day now, and they will do 2 train operation if necessary. Chaos is closed and will be removed after this year.
The roller coasters are certainly tamer than the stock market has been these past two weeks. :-)

I wonder what would make a former bank executive want to get into amusements?
That's fine if he wants to save money and only have to rehab one train a year, but why rehab them during the season? Is PTC giving him a discount because they're not that busy during the summer months like they are during the winter months?
^Makes a lot of sense and the park probably has no reason for a two train operation.

Bolliger/Mabillard for President in '08 NOT Dinn/Summers

Jack Rabbit's problem is the footers are sunk. Miller often put the bents flat on the ground or on little concrete pads. (Screeching Eagle has had this problem since it's relocation) and as they rebuild parts of the coaster they've put footers under it. There were only two drops left on it that hadn't been totally redone when the park closed in 2002.

As for the park, It's crappy operating schedual ect has been it's detriment. The park should be open Wed-Sun of every week to the public as well as picnics. I've shown up twice on days the park was supposed to be open to the public to find it closed for private outings once and closed the second.

Chuck

Well, that, and the fact that the park just plain sucks. I hate to bash a park, especially an older one, but Clementon is really a lousy park. It could have the best operating hours of any park in the world and that won't hide the fact that it's not a fun place to spend any large amount of time.

I somewhat disagree
I know the park can be done in 2 hours

but If you do the water park and see a show and a few other things its not that bad

My sister had about 5 birthday parties there and we all enjoyed it much more then going to someones house for a party.

the water parks not that bad its actually fun but I'm also to blame because I haven't been in the water park in years.
I here then my bring in a Tornado funnel water ride

I was at the park for the first and only time last summer. I hate when people 'rate' the places I grew up at, but I would go back to Clementon if they redid the Jackrabbit.

The park was mostly rust and concrete as I remember it. The 'J2' (stupid name) was one of the roughest meanest coasters I've ever ridden. You can tell it would be a hell of a ride if it were built and/or maintained properly.

I was only there for a couple hours. I'll tell you what though, I had more fun at Clementon than I did later in the day at Great Adventure. Wow, that's a major slam. eeks! sorry.

With a little love and moola, it could be a real nice place though. Look to Indiana Beach for inspiration.
