This is a different topic then what we are used to seeing here so I hope the mods will let it stay and be answered.
I had a serious problem this past summer on a few coasters and I hope someone has a slight remedy for it.
I am a claustrophobic.
If you are unaware what that is is I cannot stand tight places.
The doctors have said my case was one of the severe cases as I black out, hypervenilate and could die from it.
I cannot stand enclosed places as far as closets or anywhere that my body is convinced is a tight place even sometimes a rollercoaster.
I cannot have my hands tied in anyway either in front of me or behind my back.
When I went to PKI this past season, I rode Outer Limits.
Anyone who has been on this coaster knows of its tight fit and the seating is a little cramped.
I was pulling my shoulder harness down when my arm was lodged under the harness against the side of the vehicle.
Instead of my arms being to each side, it was stuck.
As I screamed for the attendants to release the harness so I could fix my arm, I was ignored as if they thought maybe I was scared to ride this ride.
My husband also screamed for them to come and the ride then took off.
I could not enjoy this ride and I immediately blacked out after 3 seconds into the ride.
I do not remember anything until my hubby budging me to get up out of the seat.
The attendants came over and immediately offered me first aid but I felt as if I was ok.
This isn't the first time this has happened as it happened the first time I rode Batman and Robin:the Chiller also a LIM.
Does anyone have at least an opinion as why this happens?
It happened after the hill on Millennium Force too.
I know we aren't doctors but maybe there is something I can do in the future so I can enjoy my passion for coasters.
Thanks for listening!

That's a long post, and anyway, I fear no coaster, or ride (execpt I don't like drop rides because I can't breathe in them).

What is life without geniuses?
There is a over the counter drug which calms you...no, not vallium. It does make you drousey, though... or, try sitting in the front of the train cars where there is more room and less in front of you, so you feel more open
Awww....Coasterchic...I feel for ya! I am not claustrophobic yet those contraptions they call horsecollars on the Premier LIM rides make me feel restricted. I just don't ride them anymore....they're not all that anyway.

When the ride comes to a stop.......please stand up - please stand up - please stand up!
I am mildly claustrophobic so I understand where you are coming from. Though I have never experienced anything that severe. I have had mild panic attacks on rides where the harness systems don't feel right though.
As for the ride operator handlingly of the situation. That is awful. they are extremely lucky that you didn't get hurt.

Just another reason to change those god awful harnesses on Flight of Fear!

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
Well.
NEVER ride a Chance Tobbogan (like at Lakemont)
I also am a bit claustrophobic, but only certain coasters bring out the worst in me. Surprisingly, I'm pretty comfortable on Arrow loopers and Vekoma's straight jacket restraints for Stealth. It's the Flatride restraints that give me mild fits. Huss Topspin rides are the worst, and depending on the day, sometimes I just avoid VooDoo at SFMW for that reason as that ride gives me an unbelievably trapped feeling. Thumbs up to S&S who so far win the prize for the most comfortable, free feeling restraints thus far.

Life consists of two kinds of people, those who accept, and those who sit back and cry...
I think B&M has the most comfortable restraints.
There were so many times on BKF at SFO this summer, I forgot I even had a harness on! ;)
Those Chance tobbogans are tight fits, even for headroom. When I go over the small hill my head hits off the roof.

I do not consider my to be claustriphobic, but I felt very uncomfortable at that Alien thingamabob at Magic Kingdom. Granted, I still screamed my head off and had a blast. For anyone who has not experienced it, they this metal contraption that goes over your whole body so you can't move.

I am so glad I am not the only one.
I really do not want to take any medication for it as I dont want to be zonked out while riding...that is too dangerous.
There has to be a happy medium somewhere.
Its not like I can take Dramamine for motion sickness and then I am cured..this is much more serious than that.
I think I will take the advice and wait to the front seats on the coaster even though its a longer waiting time but I do enjoy the rear seats!

"Mongoose" must be built like a mongoose. Personally, I think B&M's shoulder bars are terrible, their seats are too close together, the bars are too tight, the sides too high.

That had to be one of the most uncomforable harnesses I have ever experienced. I also did not enjoy the attraction very much -- probably was expecting too much from the hype.
