The mighty carousel that survived a fire on Burlington Island has miraculously skirted another disaster. While much of the Ocean County town was decimated by Hurricane Sandy, the Floyd L. Moreland Historic Dentzel/Looff Carousel at Casino Pier faced off against Mother Nature and won. The state’s top amusement official confirmed that the colorful carousel, which was moved from the island to shore in the 1930s, is “fine,” despite the storm having wiped out a quarter of the pier.

As far as antique carousels we were pretty lucky with this storm. Nothing insurmountable as far as damage (although it appears that Janes Carousel had all of it's electrical in a basement of the building which of course was flooded).
