Thrill seekers at a temple fair in Gansu province got a bit more of a thrill than they bargained for last Thursday when the spinning chair ride they were on suddenly collapsed slamming them to the ground. Nine people were injured in the accident in Xihe county, including one child.

I mean, we all know not to get on Chinese rides, but what are the Chinese supposed to do?
Looks like this happened at what is the US equivalent of a carnival. I've certainly heard of swing rides collapsing here. Is there any data on ride accidents in China that supports the notion that their rides are not as safe?
