Chiller @ SFGAdv?

I'm just glad we're not going by the "We're traveling all the way out west just to ride Mr. Freeze" mentality, because we have lots of other things on our plate during the week. I can only hope Freeze will reopen by next Wednesday, but if it doesn't, I'll have fond memories and pictures of Mr. Freeze at SFOT in 02'.
I finally got on Batman the Chiller last Tuesday and it was incredible. It's better than Robin (which is no pile of crap itself) and that reverse twist and tophat...yikes! Too bad about the incident, hopefully it'll be up in a month or so.

With the OTSRs, "pile of crap" would have been too complimentary...since the retrofit, arguably the best shuttles out there...

Thinking...if Chilla can run both sides sans OTSRs, why exactly are OTSRs needed for *other* inverting coasters?

^I agree. Flight of Fear "learned" to run without OTSR's, why can't all others follow suit. *** Edited 6/9/2006 3:28:54 PM UTC by Coasterbuzzer***
I think costs might be a big part of the reason that other parks have not looked into retrofitting their other coaster trains.

The Premier trains required a lot of work to get them to the condition they are in now. For example, all the seats were replaced so the seating would be lower, and the headrests were changed as well.

Interestingly enough, every time I've been to Great Adventure since Chiller went in, the Batman side was running and the Robin side was not. I wonder what the outcome would be if RaptorJo and I were in the park at the same time...

We'd be on Nitro!! ;)

^ You gettin' off the leash for Coaster Celebration? Trying to weasel my way onto the guest list, LOL, I got *distracted* from registering due to some wooden thing in Indiana...

I'm sure I'd be there somewhere. I went in '01 and '04 and still haven't gotten either one. Hopefully it will be back up by mid August for my third trip there.

I need to get both Chillers, KK, and ET. What's the chances of that????

To those people that tell me that "You Ohio State fans think your better than everyone." It's because we are. :)

Of course I'm still around! :)
I've looked for you and Lady T at every event we attend!

You must admit Nitro is a kick butt ride, and I know you liked Talon too! But don't put Magnum on my "list" got to stick with the B&Ms! ;)

Okay mental note Jo = Beemer luva ;)

RGW: I'm actually *not* on punishment, but I dont think CC is gonna happen this year. I looked at it real hard, I still even think about just showing up that weekend, but I know that there is only going to be one GAdv trip this year, and I want Toro to have been up a while. So I'm 99.44% sure you wont see me there next week.

Yeah, as it turns out, there's no late or on-site for CC, so...

I *have* to go to NJ sometime this year myself, family obligations and all (meh, maybe some shore credits)... ;)

PPP is an annual thing, maybe I'll get GAdv then...Columbus Day has become too popular though, argh. I remember *owning* the place the first couple times I went on Monday post-PPP....esp. nice with flyer bruises and *bumper-back* (courtesy of that GCII "punk", LMAO).

Who knows, we could get both sides of Chilla runnin' by say, October...it's basically the closest SF has come to Sonny-style disasters. The main difference? WHEN Chilla works, it works WELL... :)

P.S. Thankfully I got my TopHat on in St. Louis, so I'll make it through this season OK... ;)

Oh wait, PPP is Columbus day weekend? Oh, no good then. That's our anniversary weekend and we'll be in Napa. Guess I'll have to ride Roar West and just pretend....

And hey! No Sonny cheap shots!

--considering out of the way places this year: Silverwood, MBP, Dolly, SDC, Knoebels,...(not actually sure I'll *get* to any of them, but this is progress)

You'll be in my neighborhood (Napa) Coinkidenk, I'm heading there today against my will. (Blasted gf's)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Called Fiesta today and they confirmed Poltergeist has re-opened. Looks like the downtime affects only Chiller and the Mr Freeze rides now.
The Mr. Freeze at SFSL may be down for a month or so I've heard (the park must have to wait for parts).

That must've happened RIGHT after I left, cause I rode SFStL's Freeze on Sunday and Monday of Mem. Day weekend....

Bill,

we must have just missed you that Monday, 'cause Memorial Day was my first experience of the top hat with the lap bars. I dug Freeze @ SFoT back in '00 when I rode it with the horsecollars, but the lap bars totally make that ride "da bomb".

I enjoyed the in-line on Robin, but now I really want a shot at the Batman side of Chiller for the combo deal. Maybe pre-PPP this year?

EV

Eric, yes, the lapbars make ALL the difference. On Freeze it was noticeably better....but on Chilla, the difference was *unimaginable*....

Not sure what your schedule looks like, PPP-wise, but on Columbus Day (Monday afterwards), GAdv is typically the ONLY park running... ;)

Check your PMs.... :)

Checked!:)

I've only had the one experience on Robin with the lap bars, but yeah, that in-line twist is just *sick*.

I'd also love to see the lapbar conversion done to Speed out in Vegas. I enjoyed that one quite a bit except for the head slam from that first quick turn.

Later,
EV

So if Polty is back up then it's safe to assume that JJ is as well.

Still havn't found out wether or not we'll be able to make a trip to the park within the next couple weeks though seeing as how we missed being able to go saturday which was the original plan.
