Childhood Memories From Parks

Wow I have alot of memories from parks as a youngster.

My first ever park was Kennywood when I was two. I remember riding some Kiddie Land rides with some people who have become my very close friends. I remember my mom taking me on the Kangaroo. My parents taking me on the train for the first time.

I returned when I was four. The Steel Phantom was brand new and had the record for longest drop and fastest. My dad went to ride it and my mom took me around. She took me on the Log Jammer, the Jack Rabbit, and Racer. It was also the first time i tried Potatoe Patch fries.

I visited Conneaut Lake Park for the first time that year as well. I remember riding the Kiddie Coaster, The Tilt-a-Whirl, and riding in a speedboat on the lake. I remember we were eating dinenr at the on site Hotel and seeing the beach boys 3 tables away from us. My dad was so excited and talked to them and got their autographs and stuff. My mom got a good picture of the beach boys and me with them all around me. It was pretty cool. It's so sad Conneaut is risking closing down every year and depend on people to give them money to keep open. That is a really fun park with a great midway.

Let's hear your memories from parks as a kid!!

My 1st ever park was Lesordsville lake/americania. Kings island was usually out of reach for my family due to the cost. I remember my uncle tom talking me on the serpant for the 1st time. Then going on there flume and getting drenched.

My 1st PKI visit was 93-94 I can't remember and they had there star trek earth tour at the park. I was like 8 and I thought that was so cool. That was the 1st time I road The Racers that year too.

There are a couple that really stick out in my mind. Walled Lake Amusement Park in Michigan is the first one. And the coaster called Flying Dragon that scared me to death.

Being a teeny bopper and going to see David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman at Edgewater Park in Detroit. Riding the Boblo Boats to Boblo Island. My first trip to Cedar Point in 1966. My first ride on Blue Streak a few years later where I lost my fear of coasters. My first ride on Magnum that turned me into an enthusiast which was the first time I took my son to Cedar Point. Seeing his little face so lit up with excitement and wonder is something I'll never forget.

Man there are so many The first ime my dad made me ride the BlueStreak, Looking up at this thing thinking how big it was.

Riding everyrollercoaster with my eyes shut for the entire ride until I was 11 or so.

Riding the Bat at PKI and being terrified but then suddenly having no fear when it came time to ride the Beast.

Man there were 12 summers where all I did was ride Coasters all day long three times a year at CP and there is no way I could ever remember everything.

I guess my favorite memory wouold be riding the Blue Streak at CP with my dad and feeling like I was going to go flying right out of the car. to this day I love the Blue Streak's air time. Wish they would build a suitable successor to the Blue streak and tear down MS.
