Chicago's Riverview on PBS Tonight

WTTW in Chicago is showing a documentary about Riverview Park beginning tonight at 7:30pm CST. It's also being repeated. Here's the schedule...

Monday, July 22 at 7:30 & 11:30 pm
Tuesday, July 23 at 2:00 & 5:00 am
Friday, July 26 at 8:30 pm

It's on a show called Chicago Stories. I don't know if this is being shown in other areas.

Here's a link to the story on WTTW's web site (I hope this doesn't break the TOS)

It doesnt break the TOS Dek. Great find!!! Whoever can get this show in their area, get your VCR's ready and tape it. I am sure this is going to be a great documentary.

Ric Flair was hitting on the female host, he told her - "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it has the longest line." WOOOOO!

I grew up in Joisey, so Palisades was "the park I never got".....Riverview had up to 11(!) coasters operating, certainly sounds like the CP of it's day....should be a great documentary....Thanks!

I just wanted to post to this again so it floats to the top. If you can, watch this show and see what the legendary Riverview was like.

I feel very lucky having grown up only a few city blocks away from this wonderful park.

I was 12 when it was closed. It was a sad day for me and my friends.

Does anyone have the URL of the site mentioned on the show or an other site that might have the specs of the roller coasters?

You can hear the laughter, you can hear the mighty roar. From the brickyard down in Indy to the white Chicago shore. It's a rollin', twistin', turnin' and might we both suggest. You get you fanny ridin' on the Cornball Express!

I watched and recorded the show. It definitely was quite interesting. I learned some things that I did not know such as the fact that some of the old Riverview midway is still there and remnants of some of the old rides are there such as where the Bobs once stood. This is a must see show for any enthusiast!
