Check out this video of Silver Star

Is it just me or does the first drop look puny? Although the 2nd hill is a monster! :)

How does it LOOK compared to Nitro?

The Dragon Khan video is also worth viewing - B&M's current inversion champ with 8, count 'em, 8 inversions!

Actually the record is 10, or are you just talking about B&M if you are, my bad :(. I'm downloading the movie as we speak and thanks!

What's the thing on the front of the trains in the video?

Is it a camera for media day or something?

i hope its smoother than nitro

I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

that think on the front of the train is a camera bracket so it is easier to record on ride videos

Actually, any coaster drop can look smaller depending on the angle. in some areas, millenium force's drop didnt look like it was 300ft, while in others it looked like it could have been more.

Teenage Ninja: I believe Taipan was reffering to the B&M with most inversions, not world record holder. :)

Actually, while Silverstar looks like the nicest out 'n back of the steelie buch, I wish B&M would stick to the "hyper twister". If rides like Raging Bull began popping up all over the place (hopefully at a CF park where they wouldn't trim the ride to hell and back) a lot more people would prefer B&M as the "hypercoaster builder". I don't really go out of my way to ride out 'n back steelies, but rides like Raging Bull, Superman: SFNE Goliath/Titan, Millennium Force just intrique me a bit more and are often the foundations I plan trips around.

I think it looks like Nitro is better.

84 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.

Wow! That second hill looks double the size of the first in some of the shots.

I have not ridden Nitro so I can not make a comparison between the two as far as elements and smoothness. It's like a mirror version from what I have seen - minus a helix, different mid-brake stations, and more.

Yes, the 1st drop looks kinda puny (perhaps because of the thickness of the track) from pretty much any angle you look at it. It is above a road and the entrance to Europa Park. To me, it feels like the drop on Apollo Chariot. One thing, the ascent of Silver Star lift seems very steep - perhaps like 40 degrees. You are defeinately laid back and make up the hill fast.

As far as roughness, pretty much the only complaint I have is coming from the bottom of the first drop and up the second hill. Of course, you bank left while going up and there is a very rough spot (a series of bumps that can mess up your back) during that. It is pretty much on every seat - I've already tried. However, the second hill is a monster, powerful hill and major airtime!

As far as on-ride videos, I just took my handheld camera, sat in the front and placed it on top of the lap bar. It provides a perfect true POV of the ride (without it being too far ahead of the train or too high). Just hold it down tight and don't let the airtime on the hills mess up the shoot.

Silver Star was a great ride and a very nice addition to Europa Park. Glad I got to ride. . .
