Cheapest Place to Stay At/Around Cedar Point.

I've asked for it months ago, but I never recieved the Get-A-Way Guide from Cedar Point... I've even requested it to multiple addresses & under a different name... still nothing, The official Sandusky site didn't help much either, so I'm hoping one or more of y'all can help me out with this.

Where are some of the cheapest places to stay at/around Cedar Point or Sandusky? By cheap, I'm referring to the price. Now, I'm open minded to nearly all forms of accomodiations.
* In other words, where's the cheapest campground for tent sites? How about halfway decent (under $40/night)
* What's the cheapest (not referring to quality) motel, inn, B&B in the area?
* How much are the cheapest accomodiations located in Cedar Point (ex: Camper Village, Hotel Breakers... etc)?

I know there are a few cheap tent or cabin campgrounds in the area (within 12 miles), but for the love of me, I cannot remember the names of 'em. Can anyone help out?

I just booked my rooms at the Red Roof Inn in Milan. Its not as close to the point as I could be, but the under $50 price was right. I used www.cheaptickets.com, which worked well.

I believe Breakers Express is the cheapest on-point lodging. You can check that at www.cedarpoint.com.

The Get-A-Way Guide will help you immensly though. I would give them a call, or just dish out the money and stay at Breakers. ;-)

You said you were not looking for quality, but this hotel is both cheap and has quality. Try the Clarion Inn, 3 miles from Cedar Point. We got a room in June for around $55.

And, if you want a really cheap room, try the Dusk-to-Dawn motel. Around $30 for a room with 2 double beds, and for 3 double beds, around $40. However, I have heard some bad reviews, like bad smells, etc.

Man, Breakers Express all the way. The rooms are only $59, and you can download a 10 dollar off coupon from the website. Then you get 30 minute ERT in the morning. If that isn't worth it, I don't know what is......

Timberhawk opens in June! I'm gonna beat you to it... ;)
I must not be looking in the right place...where is the $10 off coupon?. And as far as the ert, what rides does it apply too?...more info please!!

I believe the ERT for resort guests is on MF and TTD.

This is the campground we stayed at when my family took a trip to Cedar Point last summer. It was really nice- only like 5 minutes from the park- and it was under $40 a nite.

All the Dives are east on Cleveland Road. Thats the road you T into when you leave CP.

I stayed at the Value Inn(419-626-2572) for 30 bucks cash thursday night(may 8).

Accross the street is the Mecca Motel(419-626-1284). Last year I paid 40 bucks there.

I have also stayed at the Dusk to Dawn motel on 250. It's sign said $44 when I drove by thursday. 419-625-6413

This last one is respectable. The first two are dives but there were no problems when I was there.

Hey, so as long as there are no roaches or other verments, no leaky roofs, and no REALLY foul odors (dank isn't really a foul odor, it's expected), that's good enough for me!!!

Doesn't anyone tent camp anymore? Nobody mentioned any tent campgrounds. I know there were a few joints around Sandusky. They were in the range of $20 to $30, but not much more.

Are all these motels/inns you mentioned that are sub $50 a night... are they that price all summer long, weekdays AND weekend rates? Did they require weeks reservations when you went, or was it pretty last minute?

Agreed, Nasai. Besides being a great value, Breakers Express is a VERY nice hotel. It's a lot nicer than any other hotel you can get for 50 bucks a night, plus you get the extra perks.

I'm guessing that at Breakers Express, the $59/night is just for May & June, right?

When you get to July, and especially August, the prices nearly double... which makes it back up to over a hundred beans a night, which ain't such a hot deal...
Any inns/hotels that are sub $60 during the peek months (infest free)?

Just got back from the Point right now. I stayed at Comfort Inn at 1711 Cleveland Rd. They have a shuttle that runs from the hotel to the park. All for $58.65/nt. I used orbitz.com site and got a web rate. I booked this on Wednesday (5/7) for a Friday night (5/9)stay. Not bad if you ask me.

Good luck!

What time does ert begin for cp hotel guests?

30 mins early. From what I heard, TTD, MF, and WT were the ERT attractions. I am ok with that. ;)

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Maples Motel which is only a quarter mile west of the East Causeway and not much farther than that from the West Entrance.

When I stayed here during the week in August of 2000 I spent no more than $53 a night, and still I can't believe how great the hospitality was (they offered me doughnuts and a $10 dollar off coupon for a two-day ticket to the park as I checked in). Just try and find a friendler, more comfortable place to stay after a long day at the park. I probably won't stay anwhere else when I visit again.

Try http://www.camp-sandusky.com/

We tent-camped there last year and it was nice, about 10 minutes away from the park.

That Bayview place already mentioned it actually under $10 for tents at least when I went last. I like the Breakers Express actually.

My website - currently down due to an upcoming move and revamp.

For tent camping we have stayed at Bayshore and Camp-Sandusky. Bayshore is a lot closer to the park with nicer bathrooms(use the ones in the RV area and they are super nice). $12 a night for 2 people.

Camp Sandusky is average and not sure about rate. Noise wise BS has train tracks right next to it and CS is right on a highway(2). I have found the occasional train is better than the constant pounding of trucks all night.

Bayshore is the way to go. They also have a shuttle to the park.

Life-Long CP fan.

The Howard Johnson Express at the bottom of the causeway is very cheap, usually about $39.99.

However, the walls are wafer thin and you can here everything in the rooms next door, and the walls are usually plastered with splattered muffelheads. Oh, and be prepared for the mini eathquake when the train goes by at 3am.
