Cheap places to eat near CP?

I thought I read in the Sandusky Register that a Cracker Barrel has just opened in front of Sandusky Mall on US 250.  Personally, I LOVE their food as most of it is made frsh.  Their catfish and boneless fried chicken are just fantastic.

Cameo Pizza... the best pizza in the world

Okay.  Listen carefully.  Haveing worked at the park for two seasons, I can tell you that the very best place to eat in Sanduski is without a doubt an underated family pizza resteraunt called "Chet and Matts".  Its located just off 250,  has a wonderful atmosphere, service beond compare, priced just right (a little cheaper than Pizza Hut), and they serve the best pizza you'll ever eat.  While you're eating your food, Chet or Matt will come out to personally ask you how your meal is.  They have some cool video games and sometimes a young balloon artist will make you balloon animals.  They even have a chalkboard in the restrooms to scribble on.  My favorite resteraunt, period.

A good judge of a restaurant is seeing where the locals go.  As Jeff stated, locals do not go to the McDonald's on Cedar Point Dr.  Chet and Matt's is the place to go for pizza and it is economical.  It is very similar to the Cameo as both places are run by relatives.  You can't beat it!

I'd recommend Chat & Matt's as well for a fairly inexpensive and good pizza meal.  Max & Erma's is good too but a bit more expensive (probably a bit more expensive than Chilli's or Applebees).  The have some cool old pictures of CP and the Sandusky area hanging around on the wall if your interested in that sort of thing too.  I didn't really like East of Chicago too much - their pizza it think and greasy like Pizza Hut (more of New York style person here).  If you're looking to eat inside the park, I'd go for Midway Market.  Its like 10 bucks for an all you can eat buffet.  I would avoid the Fridays in Breakers as it is always packed and understaffed.  If you want Fridays, take the drive to the end of the causeway and go to the one in the Radisson.

Here's another place to avoid:  the Pizza Hut directly off the causeway.

Went there once at 5 p.m. on the way out of the park.  You were NOT ALLOWED to order from the menu - buffet only.  At $7.99 a person, drink not included.  And they were bringing out about one pizza every 5 minutes, which would be gone in 30 seconds.  Also, the air conditioning was broken on a 95-degree day.

Joe E., where is East of Chicago Pizza?  I think i ate there once, but that was in 1994.  My friend and I are looking for the place we remember...  all I remember is that is was like a mom and pop operation with very small buffett for pizza and pastas.
I don't think the East of Chicago in Sandusky was there in 1994.  It is located on the causeway right by Breakers Express.  I'm pretty sure it was Coasters before it was East of Chicago and Hardees or something before that.  For some reason, nothing lasts in that spot.  I know there is another east of Chicago in one of the surrounding towns that I saw but that was like a 20 minute drive.  I'm not sure how long that one has been there for.

I can assure you that one of the best places to eat in the area is Berardi's in Huron. It will be a 10-15 minute drive from Rt. 250, but it is well worth it. I eat there all the time, and the food is always excellent. The Berardi family used to operate a french fry concession inside Cedar Point, and now serves their "famous thick-cut french fries" at their restaurant. It is very inexpensive and a great place for the whole family, you can grab a 1/2 lb. Berardi burger and fries for around $6. There is also a Berardi Family Restaurant which is on Perkins Ave. in Sandusky, but I've never eaten there, Berardi's in Huron is closer to me.

I was just told that there is also a new resturant in Sandusky. They put in a Cracker Barrel right in front of the mall. I don't know how long the wait will be but that is one place i will be sure to visit when i get there!
Well,If you want cedarpoint to build these big coasters, you need to eat at the food places in the park, admissions alone won't do it!

Well, when the park opens at 10am, that kind of makes it hard to eat breakfast inside the park.  And for dinner, we tend to want to sit down some place and eat real food - not amusement park food.  Now, if they had a some really good restaurants in the park, we might eat there.  We like to eat in the parks when we go to Disney World, because they have some really great places to eat.  As it is, we'll probably head to Chilli's or something.  We will probably eat in the park for lunch some days, though.  I don't think I'll be doing them too much damage - since they'll still be getting the money for our season passes, Joe Cool membership, parking, lunch, lots of snack and drinks, and T-shirts, etc.  I'm sure they'll make out just fine off of us, no matter where we eat dinner.

Personally, I like the Breakwater Cafe near the Sand Castle Suites.  I think the prices are reasonable and they have a breakfast buffet.

There is also a TGIFridays in Breakers.
