Jeff, hope you don't mind me posting this here.
I mentioned elsewhere a few months ago, Max Cannon, former regional ACE assistant Rep, coaster enthusiast, friend, and all around great guy passed away late last year. He was really looking forward to Carowinds this year as it takes its next steps into becoming so much more, but as is life, he won't be here to see opening day with us.
The park is having a first rider auction, and, with their blessing, Carowinds Connection, the local geek website for the park, is promoting a fundraiser to raise money for the Cam Newton Foundation where we're pitching in to raise money for a seat on Fury's first ride that will be left empty in Max's Memory.
Not only is it a great charitable cause, but it's in memory of a great guy that was truly one of us, and worked VERY hard over the years to forge a relationship and keep it up with the Carowinds Staff. You may have seen that Mike Fehnel (sp?), the park's GM, dedicated the highest piece of track to Max by writing a tribute on it before it was placed.
It would be great if anyone can donate money to this great cause in Max's honor. For more info on the auction and what not, you can click here.
