Change of heart...

Which coaster did you hate when you first rode it, but now you love it to death???? I personally hated Montezooma's Revenge when I first rode it. That was because I was really young and the intense launch hurt my stomach. Now I love the ride to death.
I use to love the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. But now that coaster scares the heck out of me. I would really appreciate a sligtly more secure seat belt.

Desperado: This thing keeps getting better with age, usually the opposite is true.

The Beast: My first ride was when I was 12 ('84), and thought it was no big deal. When I returned in '98, I could appreciate just how cool this coaster is. It rocketed to my personal #1 coaster until the 2000 season.

Raptor: I was prepared to be absolutely BLOWN AWAY by this, but it was just OK, not much better than any B:TR. As for pacing, B:TR is faster paced and more intense, IMO.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
Shivering Timbers. I rode it in the middle of the train on the right side. I got very little air and wasn't very impressed. I was so disappointed I drove all the way to MA for this. Then I rode it on the left side, front row and I was completely blown away. For some reason I got much better air on the left side of the train than I did on the right. The back seat was unreal.

I suppose I really didn't "hate" it, I just had sky high expectations that weren't delivered until ride two.
Gwazi at BGT. The first time I rode I found it to be rather boring with little to no airtime. After several months, I went back and rode about 6 more times adn loved every minute of it! Still prefer the Lion Side to Tiger though.

Remember, no matter where you go...there you are.
Millennium Force. The first time I rode it I thought it was fast and boring. My third ride on it at night, it was an entirely different coaster. I still don't like the lift, or the seating policy, but the ride itself....rocks!

You're not the only one! I too enjoyed the left side far better than the right. Of all the rides I've been on, it has the greatest difference from front to back, left to right.

Let's see.....I hated The Beast when I rode it for the first time. I was about 14 when I first rode it in the late 70's. It scared the *&#% out of me because I SWORE that first tunnel was going to take my head off. Even now, I still kinda duck in my seat going down the first hill. But I LOVE the ride now, and will ride it over and over.

I had the highest possible expectations for the Raven. My first ride wasn't great. But, each ride kept getting better. (I rode about 20 times without moving.) By night time, I started to think it was the greatest ride ever!

Millennium Force. I rode it the 3rd or 4th day it was open, and then headed to the Magnum and could not decide. Then with time, it felt like it got faster and faster with more air time. My last ride of the year, during the last Friday of operation I sat in 9-2 and got some killer floater air, which is the best. I can't even imagine the air in the front over the 3rd hill that night.

For those who rode the force in the beginning of the year, it is not the same coaster.

I heard that Cedar Point changed the wheels on MF during the middle of the year, or something like that.

...But that's just my opinion. Unless it's also someone else's.
When I was a little kid I went on Space Mountain at WDW and was scared half to death. Now I try to go on it whenever I can.

I rode MF in mid-July, and it was nothing short of amazing... and you're telling me it got better?

Mr. Freeze, STSTL. First time you ride it you don't know what to expect and how to brace yourself so its fairly rough. The times after if you follow the ops directions it really awesome!

I absolutely DID get better later in the summer. The weather warmed up, and so did MF!

The first time I rode Goliath at SFMM it scared the bejesus out of me, and I really wasn't sure if I would ever ride it again. Now? Duh; just look at my screen name!!
