Chair lift on Millenium Island

Why is it there? Where Did it come from? Does CP plan to use it? Will it be tansfered to another park? it's not the old sky ride 2. It's been taking up space for years. Wasn't also located at CP's old boneyard by MS?

Does Virtual Midway or this site have a picture? I don't recall seeing anything like that and I tend to enjoy my scenery (or lack thereof according to some) as I visit CP.

I am not who you think I am.

Are you talking about the Frontier lift? That's been gone more than 15 years. It and the train were the only way to get to frontier town before the Frontier trail was built.

CP does have the chairlift from Dorney Park in storage. It was stored in both the old boneyard, and the new boneyard next to the train tracks in back of Snake River Falls. Did they actually put it on Millennium Island now, or are you confusing the new boneyard with Millennium Island?

it was behind bonevilles main scene, between Snake River Falls, and Mantis as of sept 20th..........

never met a coaster I didn't ride (except Junior Geminii) :(

It's not on the island, it's on the long tract of land between the railroad and the lagoon. There's a lot of crap sitting there.

What time does the water show start?

It's from Dorney cool. No it wasn't the fronteir lift. And it's been in storage at various places at Cedar Point. What is CP going to do with it? I think if it was to be sold that would have happened along time ago.

WHAT no coaster to be built in Ohio in 04? Why are we being punished! What next? No more Rollercoaster Tycoon expansion packs.

What kind of chair lift? A big Intamin version like the ones that used to be at all the big theme parks, or a small one like the one that crosses Comet Hollow at Hershey?

Small one like a sky lift. thats the strange thing about it. It isn't high capacity. That makes even more unusual that CP would be housing it.

Here's my stock answer: Send it to MA.

How about sending it back to Dorney?

You're absolutely right, millrace, they should send it back to DP. Aaah, I remember myself riding it when I was kid. Now remember this was about 94-95, and when Cedar Creek actually had a lot of water flowing through it. It used to go over it and gave a great view. It really should be put back. (Along with the restoration of Cedar Creek, now it has all this grass and crap in it)

Enjoy the rest of your day at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.

To answer your question Rob, it is exactly like the one at Hershey. Same type of cars and a round trip ride with just a turnaround at the far end.

It just takes one word to discride the Phoenix, Schmecktacular!

High capacity chairlift? CP should get on of the high speeds that ski places use. The ones that go almost 20mph! LMAO.
Where's the fun and romance in those though? :)

Fun and romance can stay with Sky Ride.

I do wish that Cedar Point would add those chairlifts back to take people to the back of the park.

Hmm, I thought it was the old Fronteir Lift. Yes, it was removed prior to the 1987 season (I think), which brought the debut of Iron Dragon. I love sky ride-type rides and I'm sorry it was removed. Question, though - was it really smart for the only access to Fronteir Town to be via the train/Fronteir lift? What if both broke down? (As cool as I think it would be to be "stranded" at Cedar Point, I don't think your average Joe would think so).

One of my big complaints with Cedar Point is the crap that's stored along much of the corridor between the Fronteir and Main Midway train stations. It looks really, well, crappy. I think they should store parts/junk off site. Cedar Point is getting too crowded (ooh, did I just say that) to store junk on-site. I notice it, other 'enthusiasts' notice it, and I'm sure others do as well.

When were you ever not able to walk back to Frontier Town?

The cars are a round enclosed style, not liek those at Knoebel's or Hershey.

Your feet do not dangle.

How much of the mechanics for the old Frontier left are still in the Frontier station?

When Frontier Town first opened, in 1967, the only way to go there was with the CP&LE railroad. In 1968, the Frontier Lift added a second way to get in and out of Frontier Town.

It wasn't until 1971, when the Frontier Trail opened, that you can get to Frontier Town on foot.

The Gemini Midway, with it's connection for Frontier Town, wasn't fully developed until 1978. The Gemini Midway was actually started in 1976 with the installation of Corkscrew. It was expanded down to the Witches Wheel in 1977, then all the way to Frontier Town in 1978.
