Chain Lifts: A Thing of the Past?

Viper at SFoG (Schwarzkopf Shuttle Looper) supposedly broke its cable a few seasons ago.

As long as they dont start installing cable lifts on wooden coasters. That to me would be an insult.

Chitown, cable lifts were used on scenic railways (several examples still operate in Europe), they predate the use of roller chains. They operate like a San Francisco cable car  employing a grip, with a gripman to operate it. He also operates brakes that are on the train, not the track.
Oops! Forgot about those. Well, besides the scenic railways.

or maybe morgan didnt think of a cable lift but i love the cable lifts!! MF's is scary as hell, like when your half way up the lift, it speeds up even more, and then your freaking out because your 200ft in the air with only seconds till your 300ft and that HUGE drop is awaiting. omg, i love that system, it put *so* much more fear in me then a slow chainlift, because its gonna happen really fast whether you like it or not, so you cant really prepare for it.

i have to agree. i LOVE the lift of MF. the when i went on it in may, the girl in the seat behind me was absolutely freaking out. i love tha fact that when you get near the top, it speed up and practically THROWS you over the top. that has to be the best part of the ride, when you crest over the top of the lift and just FLY down the hill... ahh, can't wait to go again next year, i'm getting pumped just thinking about it!
