Sweet! I think Scarlet Johansson or Alicia Keys would sound really good on an auto spiel. They have that raspy thing going on. Speaking of which.....I never pay attention to auto spiels, but I find the ones at Kennywood really well done.

I'd like to hear Christopher Walken do the TTD spiel. He would have about thirty different inflections for four words: "Hands...down, head back. Hands down, head...back...." And so forth.

And instead of a revving engine, you'd hear more cowbell.

This thread title reminds me of the days traveling on Independence Air and listening to their celebrity in-flight safety announcements. Dennis Miller, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry are a few of the funnier ones I remember. They were the only airline announcements which ever really got my full attention.

I haven't been there in years, but DelGrosso's in PA has a local celebrity do their auto-spiels. He does a lot of TV and Radio commercials. If I recall correctly, his name is Big John.

Well, I figured someone would beat me to the punch! I was four days too late! :)

The "celebrity" doing spiels that comes immediately to mind is the guy from Oblivion who warns you about your impending doom. Google says his name is Renny Krupinski...he reminds me of Holly from the epic British SciFi series Red Dwarf.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

"If you knew what your father went through to bring you this watch, you'd sure as hell put your hands down, little man."

I believe the original spiel for Lightning Racer was done by a former radio personality from Harrisburg named Bruce Bond. The guy was controversial, and apparently quite egotistical, as he was suspended, fired and sued on several occasions (for harassment and violating a non-compete clause) and also for just being nasty on air.

Last I heard, he was in Riker's Island serving a sentence for his part in a fraudulent check scheme. Not sure when Hershey decided to change the spiel, or if it had anything to do with negative reaction to any of his antics.

I downloaded Homer Simpson into my Tom Tom for my FL trip last week and OMG it was hilarious!!! :)

Could you imagine if they used his voice for an auto spiel?

TTD: "keep your hands back and your head down--DOH! mmmmmmm mini donuts"

NPH as a carnival barker comes courtesy of Knotts. Neil did a killer pre-taped carnival barker intro & finale video for the Ed Alonzo show at Haunt. Tony Baxter & Steve Davison (Imagineers, & some others) attended Haunt this year and "borrowed" the idea for a new spiel for Screamin'. Those of you who aren't in SoCal might not understand the very overlapping talent pool of Knotts & Disney. A number of those Disney guys either worked at Knotts at some point (Baxter) or grew up going there & have a great love for the park.
