Cedar Point's "reduced" hours on Sat?

I was linked to http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/trips/operate.cfm

tonight and noticed that CP isn't open until midnight except for July 4th? What happened here, I'm almost certain they used to be open on Saturdays until midnight in the past. Economy, or what?

This same question was asked over at GTTP. Here is the link. It might answer your question.

It's a great thing, what are you talking about. :)

TTD ride host are going to like the idea of getting off work at 2 instead of 3.

Okay, thanks for the link Chitown...interesting stuff. The only real thing that affects me is the Friday nights not closing at midnight, since I would never touch CP on a Saturday. Still, that last hour is definitely great for a few extra rides.

Made the mistake once of hitting CP up on a Fri, Sat, Sun. Let me tell you it was queue line hell, compared to recent years when I have gone on a weekday the midnight thing really didnt make up for the 2x size lines.

Actually during the past couple seasons, Sundays have been the ABSOLUTE BEST day to go with very few exceptions. Two of the exceptions I can think of are opening day and the day before labor day. Opening day last year was about like a mid-summer weekday which still isn't bad, but the day before labor day was MOBBED! It might have been busier than any day I saw at the park while working in 2001. Saturdays are the days to avoid no doubt.

Need to go 24hrs a day, then matbe I'll go. Lines are just to long for a 2 minute ride!
Yah MDOmnis, I remember opening day last year. It was 12 in the afternoon and I had already rode Mantis 1 time, Raptor 1 time, Power Tower 1 time, Corkscrew 1 time, Magnum 1 time (that was when the trains were terrible), Wicked Twister 1 time, and Millennium Force 3 times. God I wish that lines could be like that every day. Especially when I went the last time of the year last year on HallowWeekends and got a whopping 3 rides in the whole day. Which made me settle for having Mantis as the final coaster I rode in 2002. :(
