From the press release:
Riders will hear the echo of the siren’s chilling melodies as they ascend an old 160-foot-tall Lake Erie shipping crane tower, the sounds growing more sinister as riders reach the top. Their fate will hang in the balance as they encounter the roller coaster’s signature moment: a dead stop on a “broken off” section of track. The creaking platform holding the train of riders will slowly tilt the entire train into a 90-degree vertical position, forcing riders to peer straight down with the hope their train will connect to the twisted track below.
As the track locks into place, riders flee from the beckoning call of the siren and plunge into the abyss, speeding through 2,966 feet of track at a top speed of 58 mph. The ride features 13 weightless airtime moments, two 360-degree, zero-gravity barrel rolls and a high-speed “triple-down” element with twisted and overbanked track.
I keep seeing headlines about the ride getting stuck on the tilt track in the vertical position for about 10 minutes on opening day. I know it's not really news per se, but I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here.
From my understanding it was non news. The control system failsafed as designed and was reset as quickly as possible.
I have been watching queue times and such the past few days every so often and Sirens Curse has been hovering routinely between 2 to 4 hours (currently reporting 4 hours)... With Top Thrill 2 often down, along with Millennium Force. Are they have a lot of issues with the new lift motor this year?
Weather aside, it's pretty crazy to see the lack of uptime across the major attractions.
MF got a brand new control system as well so I'd hazard a guess that's the cause of most of the issues.
Not worth spamming the TT2 thread again, but it was down for the last two days and the Big Ass Crane™ was spotted on the webcam overnight. It's running again today.
If SC is truly experiencing 3-4 hour wait times, I wonder if it would be better to hand out timed return cards once the queue is full for SC given its limited capacity? I’ve been through times in the past where we did that and it helped with issues of people fainting in the heat, no access to beverages, needing to use restrooms, unable to find family/kids in a 3-4 hour long line, etc.
I certainly hope the Fast Lane line is a premium option and it also prevents immediate re-rides. Once you ride using FL you should have to wait whatever the main queue time is before being able to re-ride using FL.
Millennium's issue(s) are currently the trains. Red has been down for quite some time (still sitting on the transfer missing some seats), and they are now down to just yellow.
The new lift makes a significant difference, but not when you have one train operation going on the reg.
If only green train could be rescued...

Getting stuck in the vertical position on Siren's Curse > RRR
Or Maverick.

Great idea! Make it a more like a virtual queue (hold your spot in line), and not like a guilt-free way to bribe the park into allowing you to cut the line.

The new lift makes a significant difference,
With 3 train operation, the lift used to go slow until the 3rd train was sitting in unload. Once that happened the lift went faster.
I noticed the lift went full speed the whole way up the hill when I rode it last week, but I assumed that was because they were only running 2 trains so the 2nd train would have already been in unload.
Do the new lift and controls allow the lift to go full speed all of the time with 3 train operation?
When we were there near Father's Day it was 3 trains and going full speed all the way. I didn't expect to notice it as much as we did.

Agreed - Full speed from the start is very noticeable. And I had not ridden it in a few years.
I wonder how they get around the block outside of unload not being cleared?
Hopefully it's back up to 3 trains when we go back on the 13th. We will be there for 5 days, and the nerd in me needs to find out. :)

That thing has been in the lake for 25 years. I can’t imagine it would be worth rescuing anymore.

This is what the cheapest tier was for six flags that had the lo-q system for awhile. I think it was like 30 bucks and you never had to stand in line. Perfect.
Curious to see if this is the (re)coming of Vekoma to the US market. This platform that they have is great, is flexible, seemingly not horrible to maintain and is pretty flexible with lifts, launches and special features like this.
Can't wait to get a ride.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Vekoma is definitely one to be reckoned with. I had the chance to ride a few rides over the pond last week and if the States can see rides like Fianna Force, that would be an awesome thing.
I got a couple of Sirens Curse rides and it's just an all out fun ride and extremely comfortable. A far cry from my experiences on the 90's and 2000's Vekomas.

Speaking of the green train. Would've been a cool prop to use in the queue area for SC. Maybe not a whole train, but the reproduction of the front car.
