You hit it right on the spot! Like that! I used to walk to the employee cafe in the morn and those giant killer seagulls would be lined up on the elevated straight-away before the corkscrews, and take off right before the first test train.
I'm pretty sure that straight away was for a block brake, since they wanted 3 trains, but never put the brakes on (kinda like the same thing on Iron Wolf, and some CCI woodies like Shivering timbers).

Ow! My lap bar IS down all the way.
He would rather ride Corkscrew than Mantis because of the excruciating pain exerted on the leg regions by excessive positive G forces and probably an addition negative aspect - head jarring? Am I correct ShiveringTim?

The Corkscrew is terrific. Instead of hiding the corks behind a chain link fence, they showcase them. It looks like you can reach out and touch the riders as they soar overhead. And the sound coming around while you stand next to a support...priceless. Cheers to P&D for a coaster that has stood the test of time!
I love the sound of Arrows to. They smell good to.:) Im nasty
Kraxel I agree with you. i would much rather ride Corkscrew than Mantis. Mantis is just too painful on the legs. However I would much rather ride Raptor than Corkscrew any day.

Corckscrew is a classic! The people saying it sucked are truely spiled by the B&M's and the MF's of today. Its like you me saying today that black and white TV sucks, but at one time that was the best they could have.
If you love Corkscrew, go to Paramount's Carowinds and ride the Carolina Cyclone. It is one of my favorite Arrows. You go up, do a small drop, turn left, go down the drop, go throught two loops, go up intoa banking, dive towards the midway to Wayne's World (Action Zone) Gop through two corkscrews, go up, and dive into a tunnled helix. Personally, my only beef with Corkscrew is it is way too short, and the floater hill pulls you into the restraint, wich really hurts.
MForc04 is right, the Carolina Cyclone rocks! I love how smooth it is and the tunneled helix makes it excellent.
What I (again) find funny is that there is so much *luv* for CP's Corkscrew, but people want to tear down SFGAm's Shockwave (a far superior ride) for a B&M. I guess it really is all about: location, location, location...

"I love that ride... maybe I'm crazy. I think I've developed a "thing" for old Arrows. Once again, maybe I'm crazy. :) It is kinda small, but it's a big part of the midway.
I love it, and I agree with you, it is beatiful.
Corkscrew forever! :)

Don't forget SFDL's Viper, the very first looping coaster to have five inversions. It also has a tunneled helix ending.
I remember when the Corkscrew was brand new and the lines it used to have. I went to the park last Friday and it was a total walk on. I too like the sound of Arrow coasters.

I liked Corkscrew also. Does anyone else here love the sound and feeling of an Arrow lift hill? I love the click click sound and the slight shaking. Anyone else like it?

I agree, anything at CP is great to all these people on here. Never been there, but i really don't think they have that much of an impressive lineup of coasters. Lot's of kiddie ones. I can almost bet MF is overrated, I can tell by all the straight track the ride has.

I love Corkscrew. Everyone is right, it's a classic. I mean of course there's tons that are better out there but that happens in 25 years.
I will say though, I've ridden Mantis multiple times and I was at CP on July 10th and found Mantis to be a smooth ride. It was really enjoyable and because of that, I love the Mantis now to. Corkscrew was really head-banging that day, worse than most times.
I'm a little weird, but maybe the Mantis would be better if the line was a moving belt with chairs and you set your way through the line with it moving automatically. :)
Oh and to add a sidenote, MF is not over rated. It is a coaster made for speed, not inversions. I love it because it's a speed demon. I couldn't imagine the centrifical force going 93 miles per hour through a loop. It wouldn't be the same if they braked it. Not fighting back...just adding a little comment.

MF is not overated.... it is like mforcealldaway said a coaster for speed. It offers one of the smoothest and fastest rides. As for the corkscrew... it is a piece of art how it is placed and how cool it looks at night. Sure its a bit head bangy at times but still offers a great ride.
Corkscrew is fun, but I'd much rather ride Mantis...by the way, Raptor sucks.:)

How can you form an opinion about a parks coasters before riding a single ride? It just show an incredible amount of ignorance on your part.
If you don't like the rides after being at the park, thats fine. But to make a statement without riding is just stupid.

Coasters like this shouldn't be removed, but remodeled to add excitment to the ride. This coaster needs an exciting helix finale leading into a tunnel or something like that.
