Cedar Point Trip this Summer...suggestions?

hey guys, just wondering if anyone could suggest a good hotel thats pretty close to the park? Ive went to Cedar Point in the past but always had family within a 30 minute drive of the park until this year. (they've moved back to NY) so id have to get a hotel when i go out there this year. Any recommendations on a good hotel?

I love staying in the Breakers, or Breakers express. If you stay there you get in the park a half hour before the public! Get a ride in on WT and MF and hit all the other stuff when the public is lining up for those 2!

I agree...staying at the park is great. We stayed at Breakers Express last year and I think we are going to be staying at Sandcastle this year. It's going to be fun getting on MF or WT before the general public!

Staying on Point (Breaker, Breakers Express, etc.) is great, if you've got tons of $$$ to spend. But if you're looking for a nice, clean hotel that's not too far away, try the Clarion. It's on rt. 250, near the mall, about 10 minutes from CP. My husband and I have season passes, so we're in Sandusky quite a bit. We only stay at the Clarion. It's a nice place. We have never stayed at any of the CP hotel properties, so I cannot speak from that perspective. But I can definitely vouch for the Clarion Hotel! We're staying there next weekend and I think it's $45/ a night. Now that will increase as the summer approaches, but it always seems to be reasonably priced and it's always considerably cheaper than Breakers and the like.
If you do want to try for one of the Cedar Point properties, then you would want to reserve now. I was told that the prices at the Express will fluxute depending on the room availability. From past experience the Breakers can fill up. So when you have the date and want to stay there put in the reservation early.

On the other hand i've never had a problem with any of the other hotels in the area. It's all pretty standard stuff in the area.

I prefer the Breakers hotel. Short walk to the park means no waiting in line to leave at night..also staying on property gets you in 1/2 hour earlier to miss the lines later in the day for MF and WT.

hey guys, thanks for all the replies. i think the breakers will be where i end up staying. sounds good from what you have all said. now i just have to figure out the exact date im going so i can book the room.
Thanks again!
